Outline of the role
As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will manage contract administration, risk management and negotiation effectively to deliver the agreed profitability and cash projections, informing line management and seeking guidance as and when required.
This position will be required to work on a number of sites so travel will be expected.
As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for:
·Communicate and liaise with System sub-contractor
·Advising on contractual issues
·Ensure commercial compliance of current contracts, protecting the position of the company
·Report to Commercial Manager about the subcontract status
·Assist senior staff in pricing variations – this will not just be mechanical and electrical scope
·Cost control
·Support the Commercial and Contract Managers with monthly project cost reports and progress reports
·Provide provision, when required to the rest of the team on managing other subcontract lifecycles, participating in procurement, tendering, contract administration, variations and work packages management
·Measurement of quantities
·Preparation of monthly financial statement of anticipated Final Account detailing status of variations (budget, submitted, agreed), in conjunction with project management
·Assist with monthly work in progress reports in conjunction with project manager
·Managing delegated resources (e.g., budgets, equipment, and contracts) as appropriate, to ensure value for money
·Being fully aware of and actively complying with Farrans policies and procedures relevant to your own responsibilities and to corporate policies and procedures including equality, sustainability and the environment, health and safety and data protection

Your required Skills and Experience
1. At least 8-10 years pre and post contract experience in a construction commercial management role working on major projects.
2. Ideally have 2-3 years as a Senior Quantity Surveyor although not essential
3. Experience administering NEC form of contract.
4. Degree or demonstrable suitable commercial management experience
5. Strong understanding of modern Civil Engineering techniques, plant and equipment and an appreciation of logistical needs/issues.
6. Appreciations of the impact of cost in the completion of a programme and development of a construction solutions.
7. Strong IT Skills
8. Full Manual UK driving license essential.
