Job Summary:
This position is for a Project Engineering Manager (PEM) who will work on a multi-year United Kingdom (UK) nuclear infrastructure programme for which Bechtel is the Technical Partner (covering Project Management and Engineering services). This programme involves a multi-billion investment in nuclear and non-nuclear facilities.
We are looking for an experienced and driven Project Engineering Manager with proven leadership abilities and management of design through to implementation. You should have exceptional stakeholder communication skills and be able to understand and manage complex practical, technical and commercial issues. You will lead through positive and transparent collaboration.
You will manage client relationships up to senior level, engage constructively with multiple stakeholders, and lead delivery teams. Through your work, you will also help support and shape the development of future business.
You will enjoy turning your hand to new challenges and will be keen to learn while also wanting to support others within our diverse multi-disciplinary teams. You must also be able to successfully manage the commercial and quality performance of projects and proactively deploy a range of techniques to control delivery, cost, manage risk, and change.
This position is designated as part-time telework per our global telework policy and may require at least three days of in-person attendance per week at the assigned office or project. Weekly in-person schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor, in consultation with functional or project leadership.
Major Responsibilities:
* Management of design through to implementation.
* An understanding of managing design requirements and experience of managing design decisions.
* Direct experience of taking full responsibility for project delivery, demonstrating accountability for quality, time, cost, and technical performance parameters agreed with the client.
* Direct and demonstrable experience of applying a range of project engineering management principles and skills to deliver successful project outcomes on a range of engineering / technical projects.
* Able to motivate self and teams, deal with conflict, and create a strong collaborative delivery culture.
* Demonstrate a responsible attitude towards safety and security.
* Delivery of complex technical projects and services.
Education and Experience Requirements:
* Degree qualified in a related Engineering or Science based discipline, and/or hold a professional Project or Programme Management related qualification.
* Experience in the following areas would be of particular interest: Nuclear or Energy sector experience including design, construction, and decommissioning.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
* Knowledge of construction activities as they relate to engineering disciplines, cost and scheduling, and contract administration on large Infrastructure projects.
* Knowledge and understanding of the application and requirements of the ES&H requirements, quality standards, specifications, codes, industry practices, and other compliance requirements involved in the construction of infrastructure projects.
* Knowledge and experience on the activities and risks involved in the construction of large infrastructure works.
* Knowledge on subcontracts and interpretation of subcontract documents.
* Must be able to demonstrate good communication and interpersonal skills to maintain a positive work environment between all parties including the Client, Contractors, and other stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
* Computer literate in word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
