Our client is a leading civil engineering and groundworks contractor based in Yorkshire, delivering high-quality groundwork and infrastructure packages for a number of the UK’s top housebuilders and a growing portfolio of industrial clients. With a strong pipeline of residential and industrial projects across the Yorkshire region, they are seeking a proactive and experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our expanding commercial team.
Role Overview:
As a Quantity Surveyor, you will play a key role in the financial management of multiple civil engineering and groundworks projects, from tender stage through to final account. You’ll be working closely with the operations team to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in line with contractual requirements.
Key Responsibilities:

Preparation and submission of interim valuations, final accounts, and variations
*
Cost control and commercial reporting across multiple live projects
*
Procurement and management of subcontractor packages
*
Reviewing contract documents and ensuring contractual compliance
*
Site visits to assess progress and support valuation processes
*
Cost forecasting, cash flow analysis, and risk management
*
Liaison with clients, site teams, and external stakeholders
*
Supporting dispute resolution, where required
*
Identifying opportunities for value engineering and cost savings
*
Mentoring junior members of the commercial team (as applicable)
Requirements:
*
Degree or HNC/HND in Quantity Surveying or related discipline
*
Minimum 3 years’ experience in a QS role within civil engineering and/or groundworks
*
Solid understanding of residential groundwork packages (roads, sewers, foundations, etc.)
*
Experience with industrial or commercial infrastructure projects is advantageous
*
Strong knowledge of construction contracts (e.g., JCT, NEC)
*
Confident communicator with strong negotiation skills
*
Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
*
Full UK driving licence
*
Self-motivated, organised, and able to manage multiple projects concurrently
