Location: Hybrid - A blend of working from home and your nominated hub office, we have hubs in London, Bristol, Manchester and Oxford. Specific patterns for working in the office are not mandated, and the frequency of time worked in the office is agreed with your manager. Meeting in person is something we value so you may need to travel on occasion to any of our hub offices.

About the team:
The Jisc cloud solutions team exists to help our members and customers exploit public cloud effectively, with a particular focus on security, environmental sustainability and cost management. We provide a portfolio of consultancy, professional services and managed services that support the adoption and use of public cloud services including AWS, Azure and Microsoft 365. The Jisc cloud team aims to help universities, colleges and learning providers use cloud technologies effectively to in delivering education and research.
About the role:
The Cloud software developer will be responsible for helping to develop and maintain software/services which are developed by Jisc cloud, working using agile/DevOps practices to produce and maintain evergreen software/services.
Responsibilities will include:
* Work closely with Jisc cloud to understand Jisc, members and customers’ requirements
* Work with the Cloud CTO to develop and deliver the Jisc cloud strategy.
* Improve Jisc’s reputation as a cloud expert by acting as a persuasive and visible thought leader for Jisc members, informing them about best practice, persuading them to make changes and helping them with adoption. This will involve producing/maintaining/supporting software developed by Jisc cloud.
* Identify, develop, and deploy ideas for new ways that Jisc can use Azure/AWS/M365 or related technologies to help members deliver better education and research.
* Work with the product management team to turn new ideas into repeatable products that can be delivered to members and customers efficiently.
Key Skills and Experience:
* Proficient in HTML5 and CSS3 for creating responsive and visually appealing web pages.
* React Fundamentals with knowledge of React’s component-based architecture, JSX, and the virtual DOM.
* Proficiency in ReactJS, with a deep understanding of component lifecycle, hooks, and state management.
* Strong problem-solver with the ability to debug and optimize code effectively.
* Excellent communicator with collaboration skills, and the ability to work well in both team and independent settings.
