This is a hands-on role ideal for someone with a background as a CNC Machinist who has transitioned into Production Engineering. Reporting to the Production Manager, you will play a critical role in the planning, coordination, and optimisation of production activities on the shop floor, ensuring efficient operations and high-quality output.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and implement detailed production plans and schedules to ensure on-time delivery of products.
Collaborate closely with machinists, supervisors, and quality control teams to resolve any production issues.
Provide technical support and guidance to CNC machinists, offering practical solutions to manufacturing challenges.
Optimise machining processes, tooling selection, and machine utilisation for maximum efficiency.
Monitor production KPIs and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
Occasionally operate CNC machines when necessary to support production demands.
Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
Assist in the introduction of new products and provide input on design for manufacturability.
Skills and Qualifications
Proven experience as a CNC Machinist, with hands-on expertise in programming, setting, and operating CNC machines.
Previous experience in a Production Engineer or similar role within a CNC machining environment.
Strong knowledge of CNC machining processes, materials, tooling, and G-code programming.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and engineering documents.
Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to process improvement.
Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to collaborate across departments.
Proficiency in using CAD/CAM software is desirable.
