Job description: We have an opportunity for a Senior Aerodynamics Engineer (Thermal) to join the Team at the new Silverstone Facility. In this role, you will work within a group of engineers to coordinate and develop the aerodynamic thermal systems of the team’s race cars (PU, brakes, electronics, etc.), through the analysis of computational methods and an innovative approach to design and development. What you will be doing:
1. Develop aerodynamic cooling solutions for aerothermal requirements (PU, brake, electronics and other cooling requirements), ensuring target performance parameters are achieved.
2. Deliver aerodynamic performance to the race car by analysing CFD and wind tunnel data as well as innovating throughout the design and development process.
3. Build a good understanding of the aerodynamic structures and behaviours around the race car.
4. Work with management groups to construct a mutually agreed and communicated aerodynamic thermal development plan.
5. Suggest, investigate and implement new methods and processes to improve efficiency of aerodynamic ideas generation, design, testing, analysis, and reporting.
6. Contribute to collaborative discussions and efforts to improve performance, offering ideas and taking on board feedback from others.
Requirements:
1. Relevant experience in a similar role within the motorsport industry.
2. A proven track record in aero thermal management of powertrain/brake/electronics/etc.
3. Well versed in numerical methods and fluid dynamics.
4. Excellent knowledge of CFD thermal methods and be able to generate and interpret aerothermal results from analysis and/or experimentation.
5. Well versed with 3D CAD software (preferably 3DExperience/CATIA).
6. Experience in planning, managing development projects against pre-agreed targets.
7. Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and leadership skills.
8. Able to perform duties in a timely manner with minimal errors.
9. Communicate effectively with key stakeholders/directors.
10. Clear and concise communication, verbally and with the use of email.
11. Strong levels of IT skills including MS Office, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
12. Positively contribute to an open and inclusive culture.
