Job summary Murton Medical Group is looking to expand their team and are looking for a suitably qualified phlebotomist to join our team. Main duties of the job The post holder works under indirect supervision of the lead practice nurse and undertake tasks and duties delegated by the practice lead nurse or a suitably qualified regulated professional. They will work collaboratively with the general practice team to meet the needs of the patients, following policy and procedures. Collection of samples(s) of blood in accordance with training and procedures Ensuring samples are stored in appropriate containers Accurate, legible labelling of all samples to confirm patient identity Checking patient identification against GP/nurse request and confirming with patient whenever possible Recording collection of blood sample in patient record in accordance with practice procedure Ensuring that samples are dispatched to the appropriate laboratories in a timely fashion Ensuring that anomalies are reported to a senior member of staff Notifying the GP/nurse of any significant patient issues Liaising with and assisting members of the administrative team Conduct ECG's as requested by clinical members of staff About us We are a 4 Doctor practice serving over 7350 patients, and are in purpose built premises in the village of Murton, County Durham. Our Team includes 2 Advanced Clinical Practitioners, well established Nursing Team, Pharmacy Team, and a hard working Management, Reception and Administrative Team. We are a training and teaching practice. We are part of North Easington PCN and have an extended multidisciplinary team of First Contact Physio, Primary Care Mental Health Nurse, Trainee Nurse Associate, GP Assistant and a personalised care team of Social Prescribers and Care Coordinators.
