Supply Chain Manager (UK & US Operations)
ePropelled is a leading innovator in electric propulsion systems, delivering cutting-edge solutions for aerospace, automotive, and industrial applications. With operations in both the USA, UK and India, we are expanding our global supply chain and are seeking a Supply Chain Manager to oversee procurement, logistics, and supplier relationships across both USA and UK regions.
This role will be based in the UK but requires a strong understanding of both UK and US supply chain processes, ensuring seamless coordination between suppliers, manufacturers, and logistics providers in both markets.
Job Summary
The Supply Chain Manager will be responsible for optimising and managing the supply chain operations between the UK and the US, ensuring a smooth flow of materials, cost efficiency, and supplier reliability. This role requires a deep understanding of UK and US procurement regulations, logistics, and trade agreements, as well as strong negotiation skills to manage global supplier relationships.
You will play a key role in enhancing our supply chain resilience, reducing costs, improving lead times, and ensuring compliance with industry standards across both markets.
Key Responsibilities
1. Develop and implement a supply chain strategy that aligns with the needs of both UK and US operations.
2. Ensure seamless integration between UK, US, and global suppliers to maintain cost-effective procurement and logistics.
3. Identify and mitigate supply chain risks, including geopolitical factors, tariffs, and regulatory changes.
4. Drive supply chain digitalisation and automation for efficiency improvements.
5. Source, evaluate, and manage suppliers in the UK, US, and globally, ensuring cost efficiency and reliability.
6. Negotiate supplier contracts that align with both UK and US market conditions and business objectives.
7. Implement supplier performance metrics to track quality, cost, and delivery times.
8. Ensure compliance with UK, US, and international trade regulations, including post-Brexit customs rules and US import/export laws.
3. Inventory & Demand Planning
1. Develop and manage an inventory strategy that supports operations in both UK and US markets.
2. Work closely with engineering and production teams to forecast demand and prevent stock shortages.
3. Use ERP/MRP systems to track global inventory levels and streamline purchasing.
4. Logistics & Distribution (UK-US Trade Flow Management)
1. Manage import/export operations between the UK and US, ensuring compliance with customs and trade regulations (e.g., UK Global Tariff, USMCA, ITAR).
2. Oversee international shipping, freight, and warehousing, working with third-party logistics (3PL) providers in both regions.
3. Reduce lead times by optimising transportation routes, freight costs, and warehouse efficiency.
5. Cost Optimisation & Performance Improvement
1. Identify and execute cost-saving opportunities through strategic sourcing and logistics improvements.
2. Establish and monitor KPIs for supplier performance, cost control, and inventory accuracy across both UK and US operations.
3. Implement lean supply chain practices to drive efficiency.
6. Cross-Functional Collaboration & Stakeholder Management
1. Work closely with engineering, manufacturing, quality assurance, finance, and sales teams to ensure supply chain alignment with business goals.
2. Support new product development (NPD) by ensuring supply chain readiness for prototypes and production scale-up.
3. Serve as the primary supply chain contact for operations in both the UK and US.
Qualifications & Skills
1. Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
2. 5+ years of experience in supply chain, procurement, or logistics, with exposure to both UK and US markets.
3. Experience in electronic, automotive, or industrial component sourcing is a plus.
Technical & Business Skills:
1. Strong knowledge of ERP/MRP systems.
2. Expertise in global sourcing, supplier negotiations, and contract management.
3. Understanding of UK and US import/export regulations, including post-Brexit trade laws, USMCA, ITAR, and customs procedures.
4. Familiarity with ISO 9001, AS9100, and other relevant quality standards.
5. Strong understanding of technical engineering standards and requirements, ensuring that procurement and supply chain processes align with industry specifications, compliance regulations, and quality benchmarks.
6. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
7. Excellent negotiation and relationship-building abilities with suppliers in both the UK and the US.
8. Ability to work in a fast-paced, international environment.
9. Strong leadership and communication skills.
