Great Western Hospital Front Door Team have an opportunity for an Occupational Therapy Apprentice to work within our Emergency Department and Assessment wards. The graduate Occupational Therapy Apprenticeship Programme is a new fully funded 4 year degree qualification as an HCPC registered Occupational therapist. The OT apprenticeship is delivered in conjunction with University of the West of England (UWE).
1. A Trainee apprentice Occupational Therapist (OT) is a developmental role. You will continue employment within the directorate/service you are currently employed. You will be given the opportunity to gain a qualification to become a registered OT whilst still supporting and delivering a service with your current team. Once qualified, you would then be able to apply for an available vacant post within the organisation.
2. During your training you will enhance your skills of working within a therapy team to a competent standard and at the end of your apprenticeship, you will be able to demonstrate these competencies
to gain a degree qualification to support your application for a qualified Band 5 Occupational Therapist position.
3. You will undertake and complete all elements of the Level 6 Degree Apprenticeship. You will attend university and be allocated full time clinical placements to gain your degree in Occupational Therapy; the university will be responsible for teaching the course material and assess you accordingly, you will be expected to attend these taught sessions throughout your apprenticeship.
4. During existing work time, 20% will be allocated towards your own study
5. The apprenticeship is fully funded.

1. Work under the supervision of a qualified OT to provide client centred OT service to a defined case load
2. To support OT in intervention plans aiming to help maintain & regain independence in functional abilities & promote clients safety through participation in every day occupation This includes assessment, intervention and the provision of specialist equipment to all patients referred into the service.
3. You will work within a wider team of professionals and train to become an Occupational Therapist through on the job learning, clinical placements and university modules.
4. You will be required to carry out delegated work from the therapy team to support the provision of individualised patient care under various levels of supervision, appropriate to your knowledge and skills.
