The Position

Roche's Product Development organization is dedicated to delivering outstanding therapies to patients who need them. We conduct global clinical trials, analyze results, monitor safety, and work with regulatory authorities to provide truly differentiated medicines to patients.
The Opportunity
This 3 month internship is to work with the Ophthalmology Team based in Welwyn, UK. There will be an opportunity to interact with team members based at other global locations. This internship will focus on data analysis from clinical studies conducted for the development of medicines, including in
indications with high unmet need.
You will be required to engage in cross-function al interactions with Clinical Science, Data Science (statisticians) and Real Word Data (RWD) colleagues to review, analyze and interpret study data. You will contextualize the data with the current knowledge on the field through literature searches, critical
thinking, and data interpretation skills. You will take part in team discussions to brainstorm how these data could support future clinical research, regulatory approval and commercial launch.
This is a great opportunity for an intern to be exposed to the dynamic environment of drug development and an opportunity to contribute to development of knowledge within the ophthalmology field.
Over the span of the internship, the intern would be expected to learn and perform foundational clinical science skills. The intern will provide a final presentation (with any topic of relevance/interest in the role, e.g., review of the disease, competitors/competitive landscape, identifying areas of improvement in study conduct, new guidance/criteria applicable to our studies, etc.) at the conclusion of the internship.
Key responsibilities may include, and are not limited to:
* With the guidance from Clinical Science, Data Science, and RWD experts, analyze study data using standard statistical methodology
* Use of Excel, R or SAS to explore the available dataset
* Develop/provide input for clinical presentations and perform literature reviews
* Participates in and contributes to study team meetings
* Assist in strategic project initiatives evaluating different aspects of clinical trial development
Who you are:
* Relevant clinical/scientific experience and experience in publications is preferred. Ability to critically appraise scientific research is needed
* Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint and Excel)
* Able to manage large data sets and has basic understanding of statistical concepts/parameters.
* Strong attention-to-detail, project management, organization and time management skills; has a track record of consistently meeting or exceeding assigned goals and objectives
* Good judgement, decision-making, communication (both verbal and written), influencing and negotiation skills; works well with and through others and has a demonstrable orientation to team work. Has impeccable ethics.
