Job Summary
The Senior Purchaser plays a critical role in managing the procurement process within the organisation. This position involves overseeing the supply chain and logistics operations to ensure that materials and services are acquired efficiently and cost-effectively. The Senior Purchaser will be responsible for negotiating contracts, maintaining supplier relationships, and utilising advanced purchasing systems such as SAP and Oracle EBS to streamline operations.
Duties
1. Develop and implement purchasing strategies that align with company goals.
2. Manage the procurement of goods and services, ensuring quality and timely delivery.
3. Negotiate contracts with suppliers to secure favourable terms and pricing.
4. Monitor inventory levels and forecast future purchasing needs based on demand analysis.
5. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify supply chain improvements.
6. Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing, and supplier performance in purchasing systems.
7. Conduct market research to identify potential suppliers and assess their capabilities.
8. Ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements in all purchasing activities.
Skills
1. Strong understanding of supply chain management principles and logistics operations.
2. Proficiency in using procurement systems, particularly SAP and Oracle EBS.
3. Excellent negotiation skills with a proven track record of securing advantageous contracts.
4. Ability to analyse data effectively to inform purchasing decisions.
5. Strong organisational skills with attention to detail in managing multiple priorities.
6. Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, for liaising with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
