Position
An opportunity has arisen for a Clinical Educator at University Hospital Ayr.
What you will do:
A keen knowledge of surgical nursing is essential, as you will be guiding the development and education of nursing staff in this specialty. It’s important that you demonstrate further study or qualifications in education, quality improvement, or research and development. You will work closely with the Senior Charge Nurses to support learners and help develop educational programs. This could include various areas, such as improving documentation practices and care delivery related to pressure ulcer prevention, falls prevention, and care rounding. A significant aspect of the role involves directly supervising and teaching clinical skills across different surgical specialties. You will also take on a "train the trainer" role for new equipment and assist with teaching practical skills such as nasogastric tube insertion, male catheterisation, and the use of invasive/non-invasive ventilators, although you do not need to be an expert in all these skills.
Knowledge, training and/or experience required to do the job:
1. RN currently registered with NMC
2. Specialist 1st level Degree in Adult Nursing.
3. Relevant Surgical experience
4. Evidence of post registration qualification, with previous experience in clinical teaching would be advantageous or a willingness to study towards.
Hours:
2 positions - 37 per week (job share/part time hours considered)
The post will be predominantly Monday – Friday, with the occasional need to support staff who work nights/weekends. The ability to work autonomously and as part of a team is essential.
