Fairmead are recruiting on behalf of a leading RC frame and civil engineering contractor with a long-established reputation for delivering complex reinforced concrete and infrastructure projects across the UK. Known for their technical expertise, they work on major schemes in infrastructure, rail, highways, aviation, and large-scale commercial developments, consistently delivering high-quality, technically demanding work.
This is a critical opportunity for an experienced Project Manager to take full control of a RC Frame package in Birmingham. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering all RC frame, heavy civils, and infrastructure works, ensuring the project is executed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.
THE ROLE – PROJECT MANAGER (RC FRAME & HEAVY CIVILS)
This role requires a seasoned Project Manager with a proven background in reinforced concrete frame and civil engineering. The successful candidate will be hands-on, highly driven, and technically proficient, with the ability to lead a large project team and deliver a high-profile scheme on time and within budget.
Key Responsibilities:
* Full ownership of the project from mobilisation to completion, ensuring all works are delivered to programme, cost, and quality targets.
* Management of reinforced concrete structures, falsework, formwork, groundworks, piling, and bridge components, ensuring all elements are delivered to the highest industry standards.
* Leading Site Managers, Engineers, and subcontractors, ensuring clear direction, productivity, and high-performance delivery.
* Overseeing programme management, sequencing, and logistics, ensuring smooth and efficient site operations.
* Driving strict health & safety compliance, enforcing company and industry regulations at all times.
* Acting as the main interface between clients, consultants, and designers, ensuring effective coordination and problem resolution.
* Managing commercial and contractual aspects, working alongside Quantity Surveyors to maintain cost control, risk mitigation, and financial oversight.
* Producing and overseeing method statements, risk assessments, quality documentation, and progress reports.
* Ensuring temporary works coordination is managed correctly, in line with structural and engineering specifications.
* Chairing progress meetings and reporting to senior management on key deliverables and project performance.
EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
* Extensive experience delivering RC frame and heavy civil engineering projects, ideally within bridges, highways, rail, or major infrastructure.
* Strong technical knowledge of reinforced concrete structures, formwork, falsework, temporary works, piling, and complex civil engineering solutions.
* Demonstrable ability to lead large site teams and subcontractors in high-pressure environments.
* Excellent commercial awareness, with experience managing budgets, forecasts, and cost control measures.
* Exceptional knowledge of engineering drawings, construction sequencing, and project planning.
* Strong communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with clients, consultants, and site teams.

* SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme)
* CSCS Black Card (Manager Level)
