Smile Education is currently supporting a large SEND School in Oldbury seeking to expand their team with an additional 3 SEN Teaching Assistants. Due to an increase in student numbers, the school is looking for staff to join them in November 2024, with the potential for the role to become permanent.
The school caters to students from Primary through to Post 16 who have a range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). As part of this dynamic team, you will be supporting students with a broad and balanced curriculum, tailored to meet their individual needs, ensuring they leave school with accredited qualifications and the skills needed for life beyond education.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide 1:1 support to students or work alongside a class teacher and other staff in a classroom support capacity.
2. Adapt to the individual needs of students with mild learning difficulties.
3. Support students in their academic and personal development, helping them engage with the curriculum.
4. Help maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment that promotes respect and consideration for others.
The Successful Candidate Will:
1. Have recent experience supporting students with mild learning difficulties.
2. Be confident working both independently and as part of a wider team.
3. Possess a sound understanding of the curriculum and how to adapt it for individual needs.
4. Hold a minimum of a Level 2 qualification in Childcare or Education.
5. Have an enhanced DBS check registered on the Update Service, or be willing to apply for one.
6. Be able to provide a minimum of two references covering the last two years of employment.
The school has been rated Outstanding by Ofsted in its latest inspection, highlighting its strengths in quality of teaching, learning, behaviour, and safety.
