About the post As a Quantity Surveyor, you’ll play a crucial role in supporting contract management by ensuring accurate budget management and processing for contractor repairs, voids work requests, and applications. Your commercial expertise and advice will be vital in the development and negotiation of contracts with contractors, suppliers, in-house departments, and consultants. Additionally, you’ll develop performance and monitoring systems for budget forecasting, variance reporting, volume performance, and KPIs, providing regular analyses and reports on economic effectiveness. Building and maintaining effective business relationships with providers, partners, and stakeholders is key to this role. You’ll also assist in preparing the Housing Asset Management Strategy, investment options, cost modelling, and work programmes. Furthermore, you’ll use your project management skills to manage assigned projects or programmes, ensuring that agreed outcomes are delivered on time, within budget, and to the expected standard. The ideal candidate You will have a degree-level education or equivalent relevant experience, with chartered status and full membership of RICS, RIBA, CIOB, or CIBSE being highly desirable. You’ll possess extensive experience in developing effective contract specifications and procurement documents, along with a thorough knowledge of procurement legislation, social housing maintenance, and refurbishment contracts. Strong budget management experience is essential, as is proven experience working with contractors and consultants in a service delivery environment. You’ll have an excellent understanding of the financial and technical aspects of contracts, contract procurement, and accounting. Strong interpersonal communication skills are necessary to build and maintain effective business relationships. You will also be a team player, as well as a dynamic, committed individual with the resilience and drive to cope with the demands and pressures of the post, including the ability to cope effectively at times of crisis.
