Counsellor IAPT Talking Therapies - Redhill
We would like to hear from you if you can demonstrate your commitment to providing high quality care and counselling for depression at Step 3. You will be delivering counselling for depression using a stepped care model in line with the national IAPT programme and latest NICE guidance for psychological interventions. The role involves delivering one to one Counselling, Assessments and therapeutic groups.
You will need to hold an approved qualification for Person Centered Experiential Counselling for Depression (PCE-CfD). As a High Intensity IAPT counsellor you will support clients with moderate to severe depression for which PCE-CfD is demonstrated to be clinically effective, and recommended by NICE guidance. If you are a qualified accredited counsellor but do not have the PCE-CfD qualification we will still consider your application for a position at Band 6 with a developmental plan to band 7 (subject to evidence of competency and completion of PCE-CfD).

This is a hybrid role and will require face to face work in Redhill. Talking Therapies IAPT services provides psychological treatments Monday - Thursday 9.00am - 8pm and Fridays and Saturdays 9-5pm.
You will be required to work one late evening week or one late evening and a Saturday.
Main duties of the job
To provide a comprehensive assessment and therapeutic service for adult patients with common mental health problems referred to the IAPT SABP service based on sound, evidence based psychological principles, and working within the context of primary care services. You will be able to assess clients for suitability for Counselling and other modalities, and provide specialist psychological treatment based upon clearly accepted, evidence-based principles (N.I.C.E. guidelines for Depression). To treat common mental health problems, including mood and adjustment disorders and other problems not of a severity requiring multidisciplinary specialist mental health services.
Be able to make decisions on suitability of new referrals, adhering to the department's referral protocols, and refer unsuitable clients on to the relevant service or back to the referral agent as necessary. To make an assessment of risk for patient and others and take appropriate action when necessary.
