As a result of strong business growth, industry-leading product development in the biosensor business, and a long-term commitment to high-volume manufacturing in Witney, we have an exciting opportunity for an Engineering Manager to join our Operations Engineering group, focusing on the innovation of new processes, products, and engineering solutions, as well as delivering manufacturing yields to plan, including all elements of manufacturing equipment performance.
This role will see you develop and lead on strategies in relation to new innovations in the biosensor manufacture space, along with bespoke engineering solutions to support the ongoing and evolving manufacturing requirements. The Engineering Manager is responsible for leading a team of specialized engineers delivering significant new processes, product, equipment and technologies to the business. In this role you will:
* Propose and investigate new and innovative manufacturing processes for consideration in future sensor and process projects.
* Leverage market and technological insight to develop ideas, proposals and strategies to support continuous development in the fast-evolving biosensor space.
* Provide technical expertise in the development and improvement of complex manufacturing equipment and systems.
* Work closely with key stakeholders across the organisation to ensure that suitable resources and equipment are available for business-critical activities.
* Build effective relationships with external suppliers, partners in industry, academia, and other bodies to identify, assess, and develop new technologies and processes.
* Develop technical expertise within the team to effectively support manufacturing operations.
* Continuously challenge existing processes and systems to improve quality and efficiency.
* Identify and support the implementation of efficiency improvements, cost reduction initiatives, and technological advances to move the business forward.
* Address capacity issues through careful planning and leverage these opportunities to implement cost reduction scenarios and large-scale technology changes.
* Deliver manufacturing yields to plan, including all elements of manufacturing equipment performance.
* Effectively manage the expense and Capex budgets.
Driving ownership and accountability in your team, your focus will be on supporting the ongoing development of product, process, and people, managing strategic relationships both internally and externally (including equipment suppliers), delivering business-critical engineering projects.
To be successful, you will be degree qualified in an Engineering or Technical discipline, and bring experience from a manufacturing environment. You will also need to be able to demonstrate a track record of managing a team of skilled engineers, having a future-focused long-term vision, and most importantly a history and enthusiasm for idea generation and application of new or existing technologies.
