Required days of work are Mondays and Tuesdays.
This role is an essential link in the smooth running of the School and requires someone who can work to tight timescales, has a flexible and friendly approach, remains professional at all times, and is a team player. A good level of fitness is required as the nature of the role includes performing physically demanding tasks.
The role reports to the Headteachers/Operations Officer.
Key Responsibilities
1. To unlock the school site.
2. To control and safeguard the entry and exit of pupils, staff and visitors.
3. To politely welcome and provide direction to authorised staff, parents and visitors to the School in relation to parking and entering the site.
4. To deal with unauthorised individuals and vehicles who are not authorised to enter the site in a professional and appropriate manner.
5. To securely receive parcels delivered to the School and to organise their allocation.
6. Make arrangements for large deliveries to be met and dealt with.
7. Moving furniture and equipment as required, which may involve moderate heavy lifting.
8. Moving bagged general waste and recycling to collection point.
9. To prepare and set up classrooms, halls and outdoor spaces as and when required for daily activities and special events collaborating with other departments in a timely and professional manner.
10. To use school minibuses to transport pupils when needed.
11. To carry safety check inspections to school fixtures and equipment as required (subject to instructions).
12. Observing and complying with the school’s Health and Safety policy and Code of Practice.
13. Observing COSHH regulations and the safe use of chemicals.
14. To ensure the security of the School entrance, perimeter and buildings.
15. Maintenance of school grounds including grass-cutting, strimming brambles and hedges, clearing leaves from gutters when required.
16. Be available for out of hours emergency call outs, if required.
17. To act as Fire Marshall and First Aider as required. Training will be provided.
18. Carry out any other reasonable duties required by the Headteachers, Operations Officer or Compliance Officer, or within the scope, spirit and purpose of the role.
Knowledge / Qualifications Required
* Knowledge of Manual Handling regulations (desirable).
* Full driving license (essential).
* First Aid qualification (preferred but not essential).
Skills / Experience Required
* Must be able to undertake moderately heavy manual handling.
* Experience of working in a customer service environment.
