We are working with one of Europe's premier aparthotel providers who have a number of fantastic properties across Europe. They are seeking an experienced Mechanical & Electrical/Building Services Engineer to join the Development & ESG team.
The Building Services Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the Mechanical & Electrical installations meet ambitious Technical and Environmental Standards across existing and future properties and portfolios in regions including London, Dublin, Berlin, Edinburgh, Paris, Venice and many more cities.
The Building Services Engineer will be responsible for the evaluation and overseeing of mechanical, electrical, lift and sprinkler system design and installation into new projects as well as the retrofitting of existing buildings to Net Zero standards, following a roll out programme throughout the next decade.
The successful candidate will also be responsible for improved levels of sustainability in design and delivery, along with developing metrics to track progress. Responsible for the management of external resources, coordinating with the internal technical, development and project managers,

New Projects :
Complete Energy Models of existing and future potential developments, using IES, SBEM and similar software packages for the purpose of -
* Supporting the ESG and Development Teams in the assessment of Developer's Servicing Proposals to identify the optimum approach to be adopted within the development. This is required in order to meet our client's strong ESG principles.
* Assess the Energy Use Intensity (EUI) of the proposed and existing properties, in collaboration with the in-house Energy Team
* Assess Drawings and Specifications generated by MEP Consultants to determine that they align with Technical Requirement Document (TRD) and ESG targets.
* Assess estimated building loads generated by MEP Consultants and liaise with local utility providers to ensure the availability of capacity for future requirements
* Oversee the works of the Design Teams to ensure they meet ambitious ESG targets. This will include BREEAM and/or WELL Certification processes
Existing Properties :
Support the Energy Manager and the ESG Team in identifying potential energy upgrade projects within the existing aparthotels -
* Where required, design, tendering and monitoring on site of energy retrofit projects, including grant applications and cost control.
* Assess the Energy Use Intensity (EUI) of the existing properties before and after the retrofit project
* Where required, assess Drawings and Specifications generated by MEP Consultants for energy upgrade projects to determine that they align with Technical Requirement Document (TRD) and ESG targets.
Ideal Candidate / Experience:
* Degree in Building Services Engineering, Mechanical Services Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics
* Eligible for and working towards Chartered Engineer and/or Professional Engineer
* 5-6 years of experience within an Engineering Consultancy or equivalent environment.
* Familiarity with the design and performance specification of Mechanical, Electrical, Lift and Sprinkler systems is a prerequisite.
* Familiarity with the requirements of the BREEAM, WELL and Passivhaus Certification processes an advantage
* Familiarity with Building Regulations, Building Control and Sustainability Certification Schemes is desired.
* Be passionate about sustainable building design with some knowledge of embodied and operational carbon, 'Well' design, low energy/passive design, heat pumps, AHU, VRF, FCU, low GWP refrigerants, efficient systems, heat recovery,
* Knowledge and interest in the implementation of sustainability measures in designs
* Be an excellent communicator (written and verbal), and proficient in relevant IT systems
* Have some knowledge of carbon budgets, net zero carbon, net zero energy, CDP, SBT, CRREM, EU Taxonomy, CSRD, ISO standards
* Knowledge of relevant industry standards and codes of practice
* Willingness to travel if required throughout the UK to assess and survey existing and potential properties, and oversee retrofit projects.
