We are looking for strong with previous experience in managing with challenging behaviour and SEMH (Social Emotional and Mental Health) needs equipped with excellent communication skills and the ability to connect with young learners who may need extra support.
The school based in Middlesbrough, is a complex pupil unit offering educational provision to KS3 and KS4 pupils who are at risk of exclusion, permanent exclusion from school or those not attending mainstream school. They are proud to work as a community to ensure that every student makes progress and achievement while enjoying their learning. Students are usually taught in small groups of usually less than 10 with a teacher and teaching assistant.
This role is best suited to someone with a pastoral and SEMH/SEN background with an extensive expertise in supporting students with challenging behaviour due to the needs of the students. The role would have an immediate start. Some of your key responsibilities may include supporting learning, individual and group support, help prepare learning materials and look after the mental and physical well-being of students.
The successful SEMH Teaching Assistant:
Experience in assisting young learners in education on a 1:1 basis or in small groups
Level 2 or Level 3 qualified and/or a minimum of 6 months experience in an education establishment
Team Teach
Excellent communication skills
Be calm and caring
Experienced with challenging behaviour and resilient
