We are looking for a Trainee Wealth Planner (Paraplanner) to join our Private Wealth team in Newcastle. The team operates as part of Womble Bond Dickinson Wealth Limited and has a solid reputation for providing creative financial planning, tax solutions and investment advice to a wide range of both corporate and private clients.
We have previously recruited Trainee Wealth Planners from diverse backgrounds, including those looking for a change of career, already in the industry and graduates. Two of our employees are former Maths teachers, who have made a successful career change.
The team
Our Private Wealth team is a collaboration of lawyers, accountants, financial advisors, and tax specialists. Their expertise is highly regarded and ensures that our clients' wealth is protected, now and for future generations. For law firms, this is a unique setup that allows us to offer our clients the very best full-service advice possible.
The role
If you're looking to start your career as a Wealth Planner (Paraplanner), this job will offer you breadth of experience, development opportunities, and an environment that is hard to replicate elsewhere in the industry. You'll join our Investments and Pensions team in Newcastle, working on a variety of clients, including individuals, corporates, trusts, and charities. Over time you could specialise in one area, depending on your preferences.
Our Wealth Planners have a crucial role in supporting the advisors: attending client meetings, acting as a point of contact for clients, undertaking research into financial products, developing solutions for our clients, drafting recommendation reports and letters, reviewing portfolios, and assessing investment risk.
The candidate
As a strong candidate, you will be enthusiastic about managing your workload and adapt well to a fast-paced environment. We operate in a highly procedural environment, shaped by the practices of a law firm as well as the usual FCA regulations, so a good grasp of processes and procedures is required. Your communication skills will be first-class, both written and verbal. Familiarity with a wide range of IT packages is expected, including Microsoft Office.
To be successful in this role, you'll need as a minimum:
* Strong written/numerical skills
* Report writing skills and the ability to analyse multiple financial issues
* Strong IT skills
* Ability to work well within a team
* The ability to demonstrate a passion or interest in wealth and financial planning through something you do or have done.
What's in it for you?
Most of our team have developed through our internal training programme, which we feel passionately about. We support our trainee planners with their studies to complete the Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning with the Chartered Insurance Institute, with some Trainee Planners progressing to become Chartered Financial Advisors.
Daniel, one of our Wealth Planners and former teacher, says, "My role as a Trainee Planner at WBDW Limited gave me a great platform to begin my new career, and I know that my future with WBDW Ltd will provide me with many more exciting development and growth opportunities."
