Job responsibilities
Main Duties and Responsibilities
You will be responsible for:
* Being a key holder
* Switching telephone service at appropriate times of the day
* Checking the Doctor's consulting rooms and the additional staff room before each surgery
* Answering the telephone, making appointments, and recording requests for home visits
* Receiving patients at the reception desk and recording their arrival on the appointment system
* Directing patients to consulting rooms
* Operating the appointment system
* Registering patients for Patient Access Online system and assisting with queries
* Sending text messages to patients, via the Mjog texting system, as appropriate
* Receiving repeat prescription requests, preparing them, and processing them via the computer
* Receiving and accurately recording details of messages, ensuring all messages reach the relevant personnel
* Assisting in the dispensary, when required
* Printing patient information leaflets, when requested
* Acquiring a working knowledge of computers in practice
* Keeping the waiting area clean and tidy during the day
* Checking patient toilet between surgeries
* Printing appointment lists for afternoon / following morning clinics
* Checking the home visit book and printing patient summaries
Additional Responsibilities
You will also be responsible for:
* Co-ordinating child immunisations
* Shopping, monthly, for staff refreshment supplies
* Checking, testing, and updating the files for, fire alarms
* Ordering supplies for Nurses and Housekeeping
* Checking INR / DMARD bloods weekly and reviewing appointments
* Organising postnatal appointments and immunisations
