Purpose of the Role
The Project Engineer provides an engineering skill set above that of a Senior Technician or Engineer, but not commensurate with a Senior Engineer. The role engages with a range of internal and external stakeholders, including "down the supply chain" external contacts and "up the supply chain" customers. The role plays a key part in delivering technical services at customer sites and the factory, in the design, production and in-service support of new-build modern and legacy products, and delivering repair services to customer equipment.
In-service support of legacy products is a specific area of responsibility, including the management of obsolescence, provision of Integrated Logistic Support (ILS) and processing engineering change for products.

Skills & Attributes
1. A comprehensive knowledge of engineering across the full spectrum of disciplines, with an expected discipline of specific expertise. The candidate must be an engineer, based upon either, or a combination of, academic, professional or vocational knowledge or experience.
2. Proficient at working in small teams comprising a diverse range of team members with unique skills, managed via traditional or non-traditional methods.
3. An understanding of the UK Defence & Security sector, or the ability to translate relatable sector knowledge (i.e. from Oil & Gas, Renewables, Rail, Policing etc) promptly and efficiently, to facilitate successful integration in the Defence & Security sector.
4. A basic understanding of how a private company operates, in terms of winning orders, delivering orders and generating revenue.
5. Energetic, curious, methodical and determined; this role requires the ability to solve a range of technical problems, in hands-on and desktop-based technical work packages.
6. The ability to present and communicate technical matters and recommendations to management, in clear and concise English, in both writing and orally.
Experience & Knowledge
Essential:
1. A strong knowledge base of all engineering disciplines.
2. Experience of managing multiple engineering workflows concurrently, comprising different technical disciplines and adhering to differing regulatory standards.
3. Demonstrable experience and knowledge of successfully managing a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.
Desirable:
1. Experience of working in the UK Defence & Security sector is desirable, but not essential.
2. Subject matter expertise in either electrical, electronic or communications engineering disciplines is strongly preferred.
3. Experience of delivering technical services and products to the UK public sector is desirable, but not essential.
Qualifications
Essential qualifications:
There are no specific qualifications that are essential for the role; however, the demonstrable engineering knowledge base that a successful candidate requires is significant.
Desirable Qualifications:
1. Engineering qualification at level 6 or higher.
2. Membership or professional accreditation with a technical institution (i.e. IET, APM).
Specific Responsibilities
The role is responsible for managing or contributing to the delivery of technical services at customer sites and Petards Defence's factory, in the design, production and in-service support of new-build modern and legacy products, and delivering repair services to customer equipment.
The role also has specific responsibility for managing or contributing to the delivery of in-service support of legacy products, including the management of obsolescence, provision of Integrated Logistic Support (ILS) and processing engineering change for products.
Additionally, the role is responsible for ensuring that all work managed or contributed to is delivered in line with all relevant compliance regulations, technical standards, quality standards and other pertinent processes, procedures, frameworks or guidelines. Individual responsibility is retained for ensuring that all mandatory and company safety regulations and standards are adhered to.

Additional Requirements
1. Hold a UK driving license.
2. Capable of conducting UK-based or international travel, as and when company requirements dictate.
