At Teknek we design, develop and manufacture the world’s leading contact cleaning machines that ensure products ranging from currency to passports and smart phones to space shuttles can be manufactured reliably, without waste across the planet.
To stay at the forefront of the contamination removal industry we are embarking on a program of redesign, reinvention and scientific advancement of all our machines and proprietary cleaning rollers.
To do this we will be embracing and leading development of new cleaning machines that:
1. Can detect and remove ever smaller particle contaminates even more reliably across a wider range of materials, forms and operating environments.
2. Integrate within smart ‘Industry 4.0’ factories to leverage the benefits of remote control and data sharing
3. Use predictive diagnostics to automate more operations, minimise machine downtime and optimise cleaning performance.
4. Utilise the latest manufacturing methods and digital interface technology so our products lead the market not just on performance and reliability but on holistic user experience.

ROLE:
We are looking for a highly driven and talented Mechanical Design Engineer with deep experience in developing electro-mechanical products to join our integrated Development Team of Engineers, Software Developers, Scientists and Designers.
At its core, this role involves envisioning new automated cleaning machines that tackle new challenges our manufacturing Clients face, then designing, engineering and testing they work. As a multi-functional design engineer, you’ll be expected to be the glue that brings together the electronics, motion systems and structural elements into a single, mass manufacturable product, that functions flawlessly and delights its users.
You’re a hands-on, intuitive and inventive designer who can’t help quickly mocking-up working prototypes to test out ideas and learn-by-doing. That said you are comfortable rapidly sketching out ideas to explore concept directions and have a keen eye for design and aesthetics and able to balance form and function.
You should be comfortable starting with a blank sheet of paper and brief and working all the way through to a fully detailed product ready for manufacturing. Already you have strong experience with sheet metal forming, machining, casting, injection moulding and electronic hardware and wiring integration.
As with any role at the bleeding edge of innovation what you know now, won’t be enough – so you will be curious and hungry to learn more to fill any gaps in your knowledge and experience and keep pushing the boundaries of what we can do together.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Design Engineering of new Cleaning Machines: mechanical engineering, automation design, aesthetic design, integration of all product system elements (motion, sensing, electronic hardware, UI).
· Idea generation, concept development, physical prototyping and testing of solutions
· Generation of mechanical CAD data (3D modelled in Creo/ Solidworks) and engineering drawings detailed for mass production
· Sourcing and liaison with suppliers and manufacturing partners
· Test planning, testing and liaison with certification bodies where appropriate
Desirable:
· Finite Element Analysis using software integrated into 3D CAD software
· CAD Rendering (with KeyShot or equivalent)
· Automation control programming
QUALIFICATIONS & ATTRIBUTES:
· Strong First-Class Degree in Product Design Engineering/ Industrial Design Engineering/ Mechanical Design Engineering or equivalent.
· 5+ years successful commercial experience in at least 2 companies with many examples of electro-mechanical industrial or consumer products you have designed and engineered that demonstrate how you have tackled similar challenges we will need to overcome in the future. This is a hands-on development role, not a management role.
· Experienced in 3D CAD (Creo/ Pro-Engineer/ Solidworks or equivalent)
· Experienced detailing parts and products for manufacture
· Strong drawing / visualisation skills
· Driven, curious, collaborative, inventive and tenacious to get the job done and work within a tight knit Development team.
· Creative, ambitious along with a desire to ’get stuck in’
