We are looking for a Sr Specialist Trader who will be responsible for buying and selling energy-related products on a short-term and intermediate basis, transacting for profit or on behalf of the organization’s assets. In this role, you will conduct trading by contract with producers, other energy traders, and consumers within the organization’s trading strategy guidelines, risk limits, and government regulations. Minimum Requirements: Undergraduate degree Minimum of 8 years related commodity trading/marketing experience and minimum 15 years industry experience Specific market or functional expertise Technical understanding of the inter relationship between physical and financial markets Highly developed analytical skills required to develop market calls, and demonstrated ability to execute those market calls Highly developed problem solving and communication skills Identify trading opportunities and execute plans to create value for Suncor Solid understanding of how macro and micro economics impacts commodity pricing Strong ability to assess risk and apply appropriate tools physical and financial tools to manage risk Strong understanding of interdependencies of both physical and financial trading Demonstrated ability to take on calculated risk positions Considered an expert in geographic area or function and can apply expertise to complex situations Recognized by peers as an expert in their field with extensive knowledge with respect to their area of expertise and the underlying business and provides leadership Responsibilities: Provides mentorship and coaching for less experienced members of the trading team Possess the ability to evaluate and make recommendations regarding new trading/marketing strategies Leads in the development of new work processes and trading strategies Full knowledge and understanding of regulatory changes and potential impacts Provide consulting services in their area of expertise, provide objective risk quantification and recommend strategies that meet business objectives A solid track record of interfacing with senior members of trading group on risk identification, strategy recommendations and opportunity development Location and other Key Details: This is an office based role, you will work out of our London Trading Office, located at 10 Brook Street W1 Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday, with the potential for extended work hours based on business needs Why Suncor?
