Consultant Haematologist with a Specialist Interest in Myeloma
Applications are welcomed for a Consultant post in Clinical Haematology (General Haematology) with a sub-specialty in Myeloma.
This is a new post and it is a full time (10 PA) appointment for the United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust, based at Lincoln County Hospital.
The successful applicant will work with Consultant colleagues to develop the clinical and laboratory haematology service which is organised on a Trust wide basis as Inpatient chemotherapy is only administered at Lincoln County Hospital and Pilgrim Hospital but the outpatient services are of equivalence at all three sites. The Trust's cancer services are part of the East Midlands Strategic Clinical Network. Acute leukaemia and other patients requiring inpatient intensive chemotherapy are treated in Lincoln. All myeloma patients are managed by the Haematologists.
Main duties of the job
Responsibilities:
* The Clinical Haematology service comprises all Haematology/Oncology, general haematology, and haemostasis and thrombosis referrals for investigation, diagnosis and treatment.
* There is additional responsibility for investigation and advice on the management of patients with haematological problems from all other areas including ante-natal serology.
* This includes a bone marrow biopsy service for patients not under the direct care of the haematologists. Anticoagulant monitoring is managed within Primary Care.

Job responsibilities
The Haematology Department is heavily involved in phase 2 and 3 international clinical trials in particular in the field of myeloid malignancies and myeloma.
You will have the opportunity to develop your own research interest with opportunity to also join a well-established translational molecular laboratory at University of Lincoln, to be able to enrich your professional journey with lab base research together with clinical research.

Person Specification
Clinical Skill
* FRCPath or equivalent
* Full GMC and Specialist registration
Experience
* extensive experience and training in general haematology
* expiereince of involvement in clinical research and audit
* specailisit interest and expertise in myeloma
Skills
* Communication and able to work as part of MDT
Special Requirements
* commitment to further development of haematology service
* commitment to maintain own education to a minimum standard set by the RCPath
