Job Description
A leading multi-jurisdictional offshore law firm is looking for a commercial litigation lawyer to join its acclaimed Cayman Islands Dispute Resolution team. This is an opportunity to enjoy the myriad advantages of offshore life while advancing your career in a truly world-class financial centre.
Advising on the Cayman law elements of major cross-border disputes, your workload will be high-value, varied, and technically complex. You can expect to be at the forefront, working closely with some of the leading Partners in the offshore world and quickly building your contact book. Commercially focused but with a financial services flavour, you might be involved in contractual, shareholder or joint venture disputes, contentious insolvency, fraud and asset tracing, or specialist banking and financial services litigation. There will be ample opportunities to show your aptitude in both a legal and a client management/development capacity, ideal for an ambitious lawyer.
The Cayman Islands
A world-class international financial centre, Grand Cayman offers lawyers the opportunity to do high-quality and complex work that compares favourably with that in a leading onshore law firm. Outside of work, the climate lends itself to an outdoors lifestyle whether that be diving, sailing, relaxing on the beach or enjoying a bite to eat at a waterfront restaurant. Life here is good; rarely does anyone regret making the move.
Process
Interviews will take place by videoconference with start dates typically around 4-6 months later (depending on your notice period). Our clients provide comprehensive assistance with visas and relocation.
Package
Highly attractive tax-free salary (expected to be in the range of USD $k – $k depending on experience). Comprehensive benefits, bonus, and relocation package (flights + temporary accommodation on arrival + expenses allowance)
Requirements
To secure a work permit for the Cayman Islands you will need to be admitted in the UK or an equivalent Commonwealth jurisdiction (such as Australia, New Zealand or Canada) and have at least three years’ post-qualification experience (by the time you relocate). Experience of high-value commercial disputes is essential. A general commercial litigation background fits well but those with a relevant specialism, such as insolvency, are also of great interest.
Origin Legal International
Our team has years’ experience of helping lawyers to make international and offshore moves. If you would like to find out more about this role or chat about an overseas move in general, please get in touch.
