Established Banking group is currently hiring for a Financial Control SME to join their London team on a 12m Fixed Term Contract. This is a newly created role to provide additional support on a number of finance deliverables and strategic projects for the team. Responsibilities: Responsibility over the accounting, analysis and reporting of various projects, initiatives and other workstreams as required including business disposal and post-disposal separation work Support the Head of External Reporting on the delivery of group consolidated and plc financial reporting including the annual and half year reports, month end and Audit Committee papers Act as a subject matter expert on technical accounting (IFRS and occasionally FRS 102), prepare and review technical papers, and provide advisory support to all business units Maintain a strong working relationship with external auditors and ensure audit queries and requests are challenged and addressed as appropriate Support the Head of External Reporting on management and reporting of the Group divisional cost base including month end tasks and FP&A work Contribute to other reporting areas when necessary or relevant including FINREP Assist in an ongoing programme of deep dives into specific technical accounting areas to maintain or improve the quality of output across the group Prepare new policies and updates for the Group Accounting Manual Review and prepare summaries of accounting changes for key stakeholders Assist in the implementation of accounting change initiatives in response to new regulation and market practice Assist in the continued improvement / automation of processes including production of the group annual report and subsidiary accounts Internal Assist in the continued improvement of the quality and consistency of subsidiary accounts Deliver technical training sessions where appropriate to maintain a strong knowledge base across the group Assist in the management of the team’s compliance with the Group Financial Control Framework and other policies including risk Support other ad hoc areas when necessary including management of the parent company’s cash flows and associated work with Treasury Requirements: Proven broad finance experience across financial reporting, control, FP&A, technical accounting and finance change within financial services - Essential Qualified Accountant (ACA or ACCA) with post qualified experience - Essential Prior experience of group reporting and consolidation accounting – highly preferred Good knowledge of Impairments and cash flows/revenues – highly preferred Strong finance change and projects experience - Essential Proven track record of delivering effective reporting to tight deadlines Strong interest in understanding commercial operations and the key drivers of value within the businesses Available to start a new role immediately This is a high profile role across the bank with regular interaction with key stakeholders across Finance, Risk & Treasury so it is therefore essential that you hold excellent interpersonal skills.
