Job Description
Reporting to the Plant Engineering Manager, this role is part of the Plant Maintenance Team within Site Operations responsible for undertaking essential preventative maintenance tasks within the group to ensure the facility and all plant is maintained effectively in terms of statutory requirements including health and safety, cost, quality, and delivery in support of the overall business strategy.
This will include plant breakdown support as necessary, including out of hours via an on-call duty rota.
1. To provide strong, professional knowledge and technical ability to maintain the existing plant and equipment required for the needs of the business.
2. To provide technical support and quality service to other areas of the business.
3. To maintain an effective facilities commitment by working a shift cover scheme for maintenance functions for out of hour’s tasks and breakdowns.
4. To manage and control allocated Preventative Maintenance tasks on plant maximising utilisation ensuring any potential risks are identified, managed and proactively communicated to internal customers.
5. To ensure all statutory/legal maintenance tasks adhere to company procedures, policies, and legal requirements at all times especially compliance to HSE governance and business ethical standards.
6. To ensure controls/alarms/service agreements are maintained with subcontract suppliers ensuring adherence to agreed costs and compliance with company procedures.
7. To ensure support and associated issues with plant are communicated to customers and other members of the facilities group.
8. To assist in the development of best practices within Facilities by adopting new technology and seeking out and applying continuous improvement techniques.
Skills & Experience Essential Qualifications:
1. Minimum 5 years’ experience within a Facilities maintenance role is essential, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
2. Able to work shifts consisting of a rolling programme of five 10 hours days on and three days off.
3. Experience with water systems, electrical distribution (415v and lower, 11kv knowledge advantageous), fire alarms, air-conditioning, control systems, BEMS/Trend systems, process chillers, A/C systems.
4. Knowledge and experience of Preventative Maintenance.
5. Minimum of NVQ (3) or equivalent in Mechanical and/or Electrical engineering is essential.
6. Experience in using Microsoft Office including Outlook, Excel and Word.
7. Experience of using electronic tablet-based work allocation and time recording applications would be advantageous.
8. Knowledge of and adherence to safe working practices in line with HSE policy, Risk Assessment and COSHH procedures.
9. Experience of SAP is desirable.
10. Must be medically fit and will be expected to undertake and pass a Safety Critical medical on site.
11. Able to travel to Teledyne’s Chelmsford site within 30mins at any time of day or night when it is their rostered week, as expected as part of their existing on-call rota.
