Facilities Manager
The National Museum of the Royal Navy is seeking an experienced Facilities Manager to join the Operations team at our Hartlepool site. This role offers a unique opportunity to care for Hartlepool’s Historic Quay and HMS Trincomalee, ensuring visitors have a safe and enriching experience.
You will be responsible for the delivery of planned and reactive maintenance works. A flexible approach to work is needed as occasional out-of-hours work/call outs may occur.
Key Opportunities
1. Involvement in interesting and challenging work within a unique heritage environment.
2. Carry out minor repairs and maintenance duties with the support of volunteers under your supervision.
3. Develop new ways of working for the benefit of colleagues and the museum.
4. Further develop a program of planned maintenance to ensure the ship and shoreside facilities remain safe and enjoyable.
5. Develop key working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Knowledge/Experience
1. Strong Facilities Management background with competence in hands-on minor repairs and maintenance.
2. Experience with Facilities Management software.
3. Practical experience of Health and Safety and producing risk assessments.
4. Experience of safe working at height, maintenance of access registers, and mobile access equipment.
5. Experience working with the public and having a customer-centric approach in a busy environment.
6. Experience in procurement and management of contractors is essential.
7. Knowledge of the legal framework for controlling risks such as fire, asbestos, and legionella.
