An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, conscientiousand dedicated Maintenance Supervisor (Electrical) to manage andsupervise a team of engineering craftsperson responsible for the maintenanceand repair of electrical plant and equipment at buildings maintained by CHoICEFacilities Services.
CHoICE delivers a range of services including both Hard and Soft FM,and it is the Hard FM element (Estates) that we are seeking to recruit. CHoICEcurrently delivers services across a number of premises within South Tynesideand Sunderland. Very much One Team, but geographically based to provideresponsive services, we have a vacancy for a Mechanical Supervisor (SouthTyneside based). The successful applicant will lead and supervise a highlymotivated and experienced Electrical team, and this role offers an excitingopportunity for development.
The post holder will be required to be flexible and have a wide rangingknowledge of electrical systems to support and ensure the completion ofmaintenance, repair and installation activities can be completed in the mostefficient and effective manner. As part of a highly diverse role, thesuccessful candidate will have the opportunity to manage and oversee taskcompletions linked to a large scale low voltage system within a large AcuteTrust. Typical systems include: general power and lighting systems, emergencylighting systems, nurse call systems, operating light systems, generator powersystems, swipe access and BMS controls.
Main duties of the job
All applicants must have a positive, friendly andco-operative manner whilst being prepared to be flexible to meet the serviceneeds of the Trust. The role will require the applicant to use their own initiative when planning and organising engineeringstaffs workloads as well as supporting varied craft persons and maintenancestaff during the completion of a range of problem solving scenarios to allowfor a satisfactory outcome.
Whilst adapting to thechanging demands of the role, the post holder will be required to mindful ofkey performance indicators when allocating and overseeing the completion ofplanned and reactive tasks. The ability to introduce and develop new localisedsystems/procedures will be key, to ensure that health and safety and statutoryand regulatory compliance is achieved and never compromised. In order toachieve this, you will be supported by a team of Estates Officers and managers.
Successful applicants will need to have a knowledge of mechanicaland building related systems with a detailed knowledge of electrical systemstypically found within an NHS Trust. Completion of a City & Guilds/NVQLevel 3 in electrical engineering or equivalent is essential as well as thecompletion of a formally recognised, relevant and accredited apprenticeship.
The rolewill also require the participation in the current electrical on-call rota andundertake overtime when the service needs dictate for which appropriatepayments will be made.

The role will require the post holder tosupervise, manage and give engineering advice to a range of engineeringmaintenance staff to ensure the efficient and effective completion or plannedand reactive tasks at properties managed by CHoICE.
Working under the management of anElectrical Estates Officer, the post holder will be appointed and carry outAuthorised Person and Competent Person duties, for CHoICE, to meet theneeds of the service in accordance with HTM 00 and ensure high standards ofsafety at all times.
As part ofthis appointment, the post holder will be responsible for the execution ofallocated Minor New Works and small capital schemes as directed.
Based at South Tyneside DistrictHospital site, and required to work at other properties managed by CHoICE whenthe need arises. The post holder will participate in the relevant out of hours andelectrical on-call rota arrangement to provide essential site attendance andcoverage.
