Nurture Teacher
The Education Specialists are recruiting for a passionate and dedicated Nurture Teacher to work in a specialist provision in Stockport.
The school provides an excellent learning and supportive environment for students aged 13 - 18 with Autism (ASD). Our school provides education for up to 40 students. Although they are a small school that teaches both the national and alternative curriculum, they supplement this with nurture principles and relational practice to build trust, emotional development and resilience.
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Nurture Teacher to join our team. This role is pivotal in providing targeted support to students who may struggle with the traditional classroom setting. You will create a safe, structured, and engaging environment where students can develop key social, emotional, and academic skills at their own pace. The Nurture Teacher will play a pivotal role in shaping the learning environment, guiding students in their academic and personal development, and fostering a love for learning. This position requires strong leadership skills, creativity, and a commitment to providing high-quality education.
Responsibilities
1. Establish a safe, supportive, and engaging classroom environment that meets the needs of students with Autism/SEMH.
2. Plan and implement strategies to support personal and social development, in line with individual Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs).
3. Use a nurturing approach to manage behaviour and support students in overcoming barriers to learning.
4. Collaborate with colleagues, families, and other professionals to provide holistic support for students.
5. Track student progress and provide regular feedback to parents, carers, and senior staff.
6. Maintain high standards of teaching and safeguarding practices.
7. Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that cater to diverse learning styles and abilities.
8. Lead classroom activities, ensuring a positive and inclusive atmosphere for all students.
9. Assess student progress through regular evaluations and provide constructive feedback to support their growth.
10. Collaborate with fellow educators and staff to create a cohesive educational experience.
11. Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding student performance and behaviour.
12. Maintain classroom discipline while promoting respect and understanding among students.
13. Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and stay current with educational trends.
Requirements
1. A recognised teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, QTS) is essential.
2. Previous experience in a teaching role preferably in a SEND/SEMH environment.
3. Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
4. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to engage with students, parents, and colleagues.
5. A passion for education and a commitment to fostering an inclusive learning environment.
6. Ability to adapt teaching methods based on individual student needs.
7. Familiarity with current educational practices and curriculum standards is advantageous.
