Job Summary:
An exciting opportunity has arisen to recruit a suitably experienced and motivated Management Accountant to join our successful team within the award-winning Financial Management function at County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust.
The role is a key part of our finance team providing financial support and guidance to the organisation and supporting the financial strategy of the department. We are seeking an enthusiastic individual who is passionate about what they do in order to support delivering the best care for patients.

Main Duties of the Job:
This post will sit within a team of 6 and will be required to provide financial management advice, information, and support to Corporate Management teams.
To provide a comprehensive financial management and business advice service to the Corporate directorates to facilitate the Corporate's to meet their overall service and business objectives within the resources allocated to them and to ensure corporate finance responsibilities are delivered. This will include undertaking monthly reporting, providing financial information and advice, and budgetary management.
Job Responsibilities:
* To prepare and distribute monthly financial reports.
* To monitor Income & Expenditure variances against budget.
* To create spreadsheets as required and input data into existing Spreadsheets.
* To input into the Oracle Financial Management System (i.e. journals, budgets, and data from feeder systems (Payroll/Stock/Debtors/Creditors).
* The collation of basic information from a number of sources (internal and external) required to produce the monthly financial reports.
* Ensure all General Ledger input is correctly coded and reported.
* To provide ad hoc costing information as requested by budget managers.
* To ensure that departmental standards and agreed deadlines are met.
* To ensure that all invoice-able activity is accurately captured and raised on invoices in a timely manner.
* To attend monthly budget manager meetings and to encourage/raise the awareness of the need for cost efficiencies throughout the division.
* To contribute to the continuous review and improvement of financial procedures to drive efficiency and quality.
* To perform any other duties as may be delegated from time to time.
Person Specification:
Special Skills and Knowledge:
Essential:
* The ability to provide and receive complex financial information to/from financial and non-financial staff orally, in writing or electronically in a professional manner.
* Good computer skills with experience of the Microsoft Office particularly Excel and Word.
* The ability to input into and interrogate the Finance General Ledger to obtain standard and ad hoc reports.
* Has the ability to quickly learn new skills and tasks as and when required.
* Ability to work to all routine and ad hoc deadlines.
* Ability to identify and act to remedy circumstances that mean a deadline is at risk.
* Must have good verbal and written communication skills.
* Able to provide training, advise and review the work of more junior team members.
* Must have good analytical skills.
* Possesses basic organisational skills.
Desirable:
* Has an appreciation of the NHS finance regime.
* Experience of Oracle Finance Ledger system.
Qualifications:
Essential:
* Minimum of 5 GCSEs / O Levels (A* - C) including Maths and English.
* Demonstrates a track record of academic achievement or has experience of working within a finance function.
Desirable:
* Experience of working within a NHS finance function.
* Studying towards a professional accountancy qualification.
