Are you an experienced Band 5 Occupational Therapist or already a band 6 Occupational Therapist looking for a new challenge whilst continuing to develop your clinical experience and specialism?
We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated, innovative Occupational Therapist who is interested in expanding their knowledge and skills across Trauma and Orthopaedics. You will need good clinical skills, a flexible approach including excellent team working, organisational and time management skills.
You will be joining our dynamic team of Therapists who strive towards holistic recovery and regaining independence whilst specialising in the management of acutely unwell patients and the rehabilitation of patients recovering from critical illness, working closely with other members of the multi-professional team.

Main duties of the job
You will need to possess a general knowledge of Trauma and Orthopaedics conditions including Frailty and Dementia and have an interest in Orthopaedic pre-assessment and post-op care in line with national guidelines. You will be required to ensure that patients return home or transfer to intermediate care services at their optimum level of functioning. You will be expected to have skills to participate as a key member of the Multi-disciplinary Team ensuring a safe and timely transfer of patients into appropriate community settings.
You will be expected to show a keen interest in service development as well as being expected to participate in the in-service training programme for the specialty and to deliver fieldwork education to professional undergraduate and postgraduate students.

Job Responsibilities
* In line with the Trust's policy, consent must be obtained prior to any intervention with a patient and documented appropriately.
* To be professionally and legally accountable for all aspects of own work including the management of patients in our care.
* To be responsible for organising and planning your own caseload to meet service and patient priorities, readjusting plans as situations change or arise.
* To undertake a skilful and proficient assessment of patients, including those with diverse/multi pathologies. To use proficient clinical reasoning skills, assessment and treatment techniques to provide an individualised treatment programme, in the hospital or the patient's home.
* To formulate and deliver an individual Occupational Therapy treatment programme based on sound knowledge of evidence-based practice and treatment options, using clinical assessment, reasoning skills and knowledge and skills of treatment techniques.
* To be assigned a defined area of responsibility for managing patients with particular conditions. To be responsible for providing appropriate Occupational Therapy assessment and treatment plans for patients within this remit.
