We have a great opportunity for an Overhead Linesmen Instructor to join the Training Academy Team at Electricity North West.
Our role
As a Distribution Overhead Instructor involves training and educating individuals in both live and dead overhead work up to and including 33kV.
As an ENW Trainer is expected to be responsible for imparting knowledge and practical skills in accordance with Electricity North West’s Codes of Practice and Safety Rules.
You will work with both internal and external trainees, apprentices, and experienced crafts persons to teach, enhance and assess their overhead capabilities to enable them to work on Electricity North West’s network.
This role will principally be based at Training Academy but may be required to operate off site.
To give you an idea of how this role would look and feel, here are some of the things you could expect to do:
* Design, develop, deliver and evaluate training solutions to meet individual & business needs for all Electricity North West’s staff & contractors working on behalf of Electricity North West Limited.
* Carry out trade test assessments & approve ready for authorisation interviews.
* Deliver additional training relevant to experience & training.
* Conduct field assessment & coaching of staff across Electricity North West.
* Conduct internal audits of Live Line Rubber Glove Teams in line with Live Line Safety Case.
* Develop, design, review & maintain all training material, including power point presentations, workbooks & ‘on job’ books to ensure they are up to date & in-line with all current codes of practice, regulations & safe working practices.
* Review and propose updates to the overhead linesperson authorisation codes, descriptions, assessments & interviews
* Support the Policy team & be a key contact within regards to consulting with manufacturers of overhead linespersons personal protection equipment, climbing equipment and tools.
* Support the development and implementation of new policy and standards related to overhead lines.
* Provide subject matter guidance to overhead lines innovation projects as required.
* To carry out electrical training in accordance with Electricity North West’s health and safety requirements, this includes the ability to carry out risk assessments.
What we’re looking for
To apply for this Overhead Linesmen Instructor role, you will have good working knowledge & overhead lines person experience. You will also require the following:
* Minimum C&G level 2 Qualification
* Holds an ENWL authorisation in a craft, engineering or another Distribution Network Operator authorisation (preferable)
* LV Live Line experience (essential)
* HV live line, short stick experience (highly desirable)
* Understanding of ENWL operational training and competence requirements
* Thorough knowledge of operational Codes of Practice, Electricity Policy Documents & Distribution Safety Rules.
* Good interpersonal, teamwork, report writing, presentation & public speaking skills.
