DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Tooling Engineer under the direction of the Manufacturing Engineering Manager is.
responsible for:
1. Identify, develop, evaluate, design, improve and document all tooling and fixtures according to their manufacturing processes, characteristics, and requirements from concept, final design, manufacturing, testing, and validation phases.
2. Develop and implement process control techniques including work instructions for tooling and fixtures. This will include, but not be limited to, the use of capability studies, Statistical Process Control (SPC), Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA), etc., and ensure accurate documentation of tool drawings and manufacturing outputs.
3. Analyzing the manufacturing process flows continually for the enhancements of quality, cost reduction, and lead-time reduction for new work impacted by tooling and fixtures.
4. Evaluate manufacturing processes that require related fixtures and tooling that are consistent with zero defect level and low product cost, for the enhancement of quality, cost reduction, and lead-time reduction.
5. Facilitate continuous improvement events in support of Value Streams (VS) & Business Process Improvements (BPI) to improve the current tools and fixtures.
6. Support company policies and procedures, goals and objectives, good manufacturing practices, and maintain a safe EHS and clean work environment by respecting company policies and educating and directing personnel on the use of all Tooling, fixtures.
7. Manage performance against agreed goals, accountable for quality, on-time delivery, budget, and conduct cost/benefit analysis for tolling and fixtures.
QUALIFICATIONS:
8. Minimal 3+ years of tooling manufacturing/design/engineering aerospace practical experience and minimum High National Certification in Mechanical Engineering Technology.
9. High ethical standards. Models support organization's goals and values; adapts to changing conditions; admits mistakes; is a direct, truthful individual; demonstrates persistence and overcomes obstacles by using solid analytical skills and solution-driven thinking.
10. Ability to read and interpret technical documents, drawings (ASME, ISO, GD &T, etc.…) and technical specifications. Ability to write clearly and informatively routine reports, correspondence, and designs workflows and procedures. Presents numerical data effectively.
11. Advanced knowledge of CAD (2D & 3D) design software, 3D printing, tooling/fixtures materials (metallic, composites, etc.). Good knowledge level on software as PLM (Windchill), Word, Excel,
12. Power Point, and other applicable tools.
13. Ability to manage multiple complex assignments and achieve results due to strong organizational skills with high attention to detail.
