1. To accept responsibility for a designated caseload of patients and to organise the caseload effectively and efficiently. 2. To ensure a high standard of clinical care for the patients under your management and support other members in the team to do likewise. 3. To assess the patients understanding of therapeutic and treatment proposals, gain their valid informed consent and have the capacity to work within the legal framework with patients who lack capacity to consent to treatment. 4. To apply appropriate anatomy and physiology knowledge specific to the patient to facilitate optimal clinical decision making, treatment and management. 5. To be able to recognise the needs of a patient based on their condition, functional status and co-morbidities and being able to recognise a medically deteriorating patient and act accordingly to seek help. 6. To ensure the safe use of therapeutic equipment in the Therapy gyms, Therapy outpatient department and Hydrotherapy pool. 7. To be involved in planning, reviewing and progression of physiotherapy treatments in line with guidelines and protocols. 8. Monitor patients progress/condition ensuring reviews are arranged with a registered clinician or the referring clinician, where there is a change in the patients condition or the presentation differs from that expected or identified with agreed protocols and guidelines or the patients needs exceeds competency levels. 9. To support, encourage and motivate patients to achieve agreed identified goals and participate in their treatment programme within the gym, ward and hydrotherapy environments supporting patients to longer term self-management for ongoing conditions on discharge from the care episode. 10. To maintain accurate, comprehensive and up to date assessment and treatment records for all patients in line with legal, Trust and department requirements. 11. Record assessment and treatment outcomes as required on the relevant systems. 12. To develop and maintain skills required to provide and receive sensitive or contentious information from patients or carers. 13. To participate in relevant MDT clinical meetings, representing the physiotherapy team and ensure that feedback is given to relevant staff. 14. To provide administration support to the MSK, Rheumatology and Neurology Outpatient therapy teams working as an integrated member of the therapy team supporting effective communication throughout the service. 15. To promote and support patients rights, by promoting individual choice, respecting their beliefs, ensuring privacy and dignity at all times. 16. To communicate effectively utilising skills of persuasion, motivation, negotiation, training, empathy and reassurance as appropriate. 17. To provide support and advice to less experienced members of the physiotherapy and occupational therapy team. 18. To be responsible for the use and care of physiotherapy equipment giving instruction in its proper and safe use to both staff and patients.
