Job summary Location: Pines Hospital Were recruiting experienced Theatre Recovery Nurse/ODP to join our friendly team at The Pines Hospital based in South Manchester, designed to cater for cosmetic surgery and weight loss patients within purpose designed facilities. Applicants should have some post registration experience within a high acute speciality although cosmetic surgery experience is not essential. This post is available on a full time basis, 37.5 hours a week, working over 7 days, therefore the applicant should be flexible in their working arrangements as we operate on a changing rota basis, including evenings and weekends to meet with patient needs. Applicants should be registered nurses or registered ODP's. Salaries quoted above are indicative only and will vary according to hours worked and levels of experience. Main duties of the job The overall objectives will be to: Promote and maintain a high standard of care to patient To assist the anaesthetist and support them with any knowledge of procedures being carried out The post holder will have to ensure the correct controlled storage and administration of drugs and medication in accordance with Electiva Hospitals' policies and procedures. The post holder will be a member of the team and work closely with the anaesthetist's and theatre staff. Overall Objectives: Promote and maintain a high standard of care to patient. All anaesthetic machinery, including monitors, ventilators and any other equipment to be checked to help the patient undergoing surgical and anaesthetic procedure. Ensure the Anaesthetist has checked the machine prior to start. As well as able to demonstrate accurate observation of the patients respiratory conditions. Guide the patient safely to theatre and introduce them to the team Ensure that the patient is safely positioned on the operating table Apply the diathermy pad with awareness of the placing Ensure full support of the Achilles tendon and limbs Ensure that the patient is kept warm Ensure that the DVT flowtron is placed whenever necessary Fully support the Anaesthetist during surgery by demonstrating a knowledge of drugs and reactions to drugs during aesthesia Ensure that there is an adequate stock of supplies and medicines available for the safe running of the surgical list. Ensure the safe transfer of the patient to the Recovery Room at the end of surgery this must be with the support of the Anaesthetist To hand over to the recovery nurse and inform of any extra medical instructions. When allocated to the recovery room/duties the ODP must follow the patient care guidelines When the ODP is allocated to the scrub room they must follow the guidelines set out by the department.
