Technical Security Manager (Cyber) – £65-70K – Herefordshire
We are looking for a passionate and people-focused Technical Security Manager to lead our client’s cybersecurity team in safeguarding critical systems and data.
This key role involves overseeing security operations, implementing robust security measures, and leveraging Microsoft Azure’s security features to protect the organization’s infrastructure.

Working Arrangements & Compensation
* Hybrid role – 3 days in the office per week.

Key Responsibilities
Security Operations & Incident Management
* Continuously monitor and protect networks, systems, and applications.
* Lead security incident response, working cross-functionally to investigate, contain, and remediate breaches while minimizing disruptions.
Technical Security Implementation & Risk Management
* Design, implement, and support security solutions such as Privileged Access Management, Vulnerability Management, and Threat Intelligence.
* Expertise in Microsoft Azure security tools, including Entra, Privileged Identity Management, Conditional Access, Microsoft Defender, and Sentinel.
* Identify and recommend new security tools to support organizational growth.
* Ensure compliance with industry standards and lead/support audits.
Security Management & Monitoring
* Utilize Microsoft Azure Security Centre, Azure Sentinel, Active Directory, and Entra ID to enhance security posture.
* Monitor security alerts and respond effectively.
* Conduct forensic analysis to determine root causes of security incidents and implement preventative measures.
Building a Security-First Culture
* Collaborate with IT and Compliance leadership to develop and implement cybersecurity policies, procedures, and best practices.
* Drive security awareness across all levels of the organization, ensuring employees understand their role in protecting company data.
* Organize and lead engaging security training programs tailored to different teams.
* Foster a knowledge-sharing and collaborative security culture.
* Lead, mentor, and support a small team of cybersecurity professionals.
* Identify team strengths and development areas, providing regular feedback.
* Create opportunities for personal and professional growth within the team.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
* Proven experience in IT security, with a strong focus on technical cybersecurity roles.
* Hands-on experience in implementing and managing security solutions.
* Track record of successfully handling security incidents and implementing lessons learned for continuous improvement.
* Strong knowledge of Microsoft Azure security tools and best practices.
* Proficiency in network security, system administration, and forensic analysis.
* Experience using security monitoring tools and responding to cyber threats.
* Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, Microsoft Certified: Azure Security Engineer Associate (preferred but not essential).
* Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.
* Ability to stay ahead of emerging cyber threats, vulnerabilities, and security trends.
* Proven leadership experience, with a track record of mentoring and coaching teams.
* Experience in financial services or an owner-led organization is a plus.
