North Kerrier East Primary Care Network (Leatside Health Centre and Veor Surgery) are looking to recruit a newly qualified (within 2 years and not having held a substantive post), enthusiastic, forward-thinking GP to join our practice teams on a fixed term salaried contract until 31 March 2025. This is likely to be extended subject to the Direct Enhanced Service contract (NHSe) provision 1st April 2025.
The post holder will work as an autonomous practitioner, on rotation across the PCN practices, responsible for the provision of medical services to the PCN practice population, delivering an excellent standard of clinical care whilst complying with the contract.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will demonstrate critical thinking in the clinical decision-making process, with the ability to prioritise and triage the needs of patients, instigating appropriate investigations or referrals to colleagues and other care providers. You will also work as part of the Primary Care Hub Service, delivering 'on the day' services to North Kerrier.
The post holder will adhere to the GMC standards for good medical practice, contributing to the effective management of the practice, leading by example, maintaining a positive, collaborative working relationship with the multidisciplinary team.
The applicant must be qualified for less than 2 years after October 2022.

North Kerrier East Primary Care Network (PCN) is in the West ICA within the Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Integrated Care System and has approximately 26,000 people registered across 2 GP Practices based in Redruth and Camborne locations. The PCN has recently been successful in being part of Wave 1 Integrated Neighbourhood Team development so there are a great many opportunities to make a difference for the area over the next three years.
Job responsibilities
* In accordance with the workplan timetable, as agreed, the post-holder will make themselves available to undertake a variety of duties including surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion.
* Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other healthcare workers within the organisation.
* Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.
* Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.
* In consultation with patients and in line with the Practices disease management protocols, developing care plans for health.
* Providing counselling and health education.
* Admitting or discharging patients to and from the caseload and referring to other care providers as appropriate.
* Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards.
* Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions (avoiding hand-written prescriptions whenever possible).
* Prescribing in accordance with the Practices prescribing formulary (or generically) whenever this is clinically appropriate.
* In general the post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care across the PCN practices.
Person Specification
Knowledge
* Use of clinical systems and other IT packages.
* Digitally enabled.
* Experience of delivering QOF and Enhanced Services.
* Prepared to make a commitment to the long-term development of primary care services across both practices.
* Make improvements to systems, processes and policies to deliver effective patient care.
Experience
* The applicant must not have already been substantially employed within a GP Practice as a GP.
* Evidence of consolidation of professional training, for example, able to demonstrate particular areas of interest or further study.
* Experience of multi-disciplinary working.
* Knowledge of national and local agendas in respect of primary care commissioning and intermediate and urgent care agendas.
* Knowledge of key areas of NHS compliance and legislation.
* Good team player who is able to support, value and respect other members of the team.
* Good time management being able to prioritise work and work under pressure.
* Adaptable and able to respond to a changing situation.
* Self-motivated and able to work autonomously.
* Ability to recognise own limitations and act upon them appropriately.
* Willingness to learn new skills and to problem solve on a daily basis.
Qualifications
* GMC registered, not subject to suspension.
* Currently on Performers List.
* Clear enhanced DBS check.
