Job Description:
Weipa Town Authority is seeking a Sports & Recreation Lead or Junior Recreation Assistant to assist with the daily operations of the Weipa Aquatic & Sports Precinct. The position will have varied hours of employment tailored to suit availability & operational requirements. This is an exciting entry-level role with duties spread across all facilities associated with recreational and events delivery in Weipa.
Sports & Recreation Lead - Casual
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Assisting in the setup/running of recreational activities and events.
2. Operate the computerized Point of Sale system.
3. Provide assistance to the Sports and Recreation Supervisor, Aquatics Team, Communities Team, and WASP Team.
Skills and Experience:
1. Genuine interest in sport/recreation and leisure.
2. Ability to work as part of a team.
3. Ability to work mornings, evenings, and some weekend shifts.
4. Willingness to undertake varied duties and additional training.
5. Willingness to assist the Sports and Recreation Supervisor with planning recreational activities designed to increase patronage at the WASP.
6. Willingness to work across multiple areas of the facility.
7. Working with children check/ability to obtain (blue card).
Desirable:
1. First Aid and CPR.
2. Additional fitness, lifeguard, coaching, or teaching qualifications.
3. Additional training will be offered to those that wish to improve their skills.
Junior Recreation Assistant - Casual
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Assisting in the setup/running of recreational activities and events.
2. Provide assistance to the Sports and Recreation Coordinator, Aquatics Team Leader, Health and Leisure Team, Communications and Events Officer, and Communities Team.
Skills and Experience:
1. Genuine interest in sport/recreation and leisure.
2. Ability to work as part of a team.
3. Ability to work mornings, evenings, some weekend shifts, and school holidays.
4. Willingness to undertake varied duties and additional training.
5. Working with children check/ability to obtain (blue card).
6. Additional training will be offered to those that wish to improve their skills.
