Community Connections Programme, Community Development Co-Ordinator With Responsibility For Diversity & Inclusion 35hrs per week Salary: £30,236 The purpose is to support, strengthen and connect the community sector in East Belfast so that it has the capacity to: Develop and maintain community spirit through challenging times. Address the increasing diversity of communities and ensure that they are inclusive and welcoming to new residents. This is one of two posts within the Community Connections Programme. The post holders will be community development practitioners who will support and coordinate local action and local leadership. The posts are relationship based connecting people in neighbourhoods across East Belfast with each other and with voluntary service providers and statutory agencies. The 2 post holders will work together across East Belfast. One will focus on poverty and vulnerability and one on inclusion and diversity. Role Develop relationships in each community and identify an overview of their needs, issues, capacity, and current activities. Gather, update, and share information on services and activities across East Belfast and be an accessible and available knowledge point for residents groups and local organisations on diversity and inclusion work, Support existing networks, including the Community Development Café, and new initiatives to support and connect volunteers and those working in East Belfasts community sector Identify the training needs of new and established residents groups and support them to access appropriate training on community development, governance, managing financial resources, and supporting volunteers. Work with the Poverty & Vulnerability Co-Ordinator to compile and input data to measure the impact and social value of the Community Connections Programme. Duties Facilitate, develop and support the work of the Community Connections Programme by: Co-ordinate and develop East Belfast Race Relations Network Support the efforts of community and residents groups to welcome new residents and become more inclusive and signpost them to support and services Respond to community need and provide workshops and training as appropriate. Deliver Tackling Prejudice and Cultural Awareness training, according to community need. Co-ordinate and develop Welcome Initiatives for all new residents to East Belfast, including Welcome Packs and Welcome Events. Co-ordinate and develop the Welcoming Committee Support local community and residents groups with capacity building i.e. development, governance, annual planning, funding and training. Work with the Poverty & Vulnerability Co-Ordinator to promote community spirit, celebrate and acknowledge the contributions made by those working and volunteering in the East Belfast community sector. Co-ordinate responses and requests from East Belfast community sector to statutory bodies.
