GP Receptionist with IT Support Responsibilities
Stowhealth is an established GP Practice in Stowmarket, Suffolk. We pride ourselves on offering an excellent, efficient and friendly service to all patients.
We currently have a vacancy for a part-time receptionist with IT support responsibilities, approximately 21 hours per week. This role will primarily involve answering the telephone, dealing with enquiries from patients, and carrying out specific administrative tasks as appropriate to the role. In addition, you will be assisting the team with basic IT support. Please see the job description for full details.
The working pattern is:
1. Monday 12:00 to 17:30
2. Tuesday 12:00 to 17:30
3. Wednesday 08:00 to 13:00
4. Friday 08:00 to 13:00
Main Duties of the Job
* Handle telephone enquiries in a professional manner.
* Input patient information on AskmyGP and action enquiries received from patients.
* Make, alter and update appointments for patients on the computer systems according to set protocols.
* Provide basic IT support within the Practice.
* Greet patients at the reception desk and deal with their enquiries professionally.
* Provide advice and information to all users and visitors of Violet Hill House and associated health teams.
* Provide holiday and sickness cover for the reception team.
* Maintain security and confidentiality of persons, equipment, and information.

We are part of the Stowmarket locality of East Suffolk PCN and use the AskmyGP online consultation service allowing us to manage our own workload, with control over face-to-face appointment lengths and timings.
Our team of doctors, advanced nurse practitioners, practice nurses, and physician associates deal with daily clinical enquiries, while our skilled care navigators, receptionists, and admin staff manage non-clinical issues on our behalf.
Job Responsibilities
Reception Duties
* Handle telephone enquiries professionally.
* Input patient information on AskmyGP and action enquiries received from patients.
* Greet patients at the reception desk and deal with their enquiries professionally.
* Make, alter and update appointments for patients on the computer systems according to set protocols.
* Accurately extract and re-file patient records as required.
* Provide advice and information to all users and visitors of Violet Hill House and associated health teams.
* Provide holiday and sickness cover for the reception team.
* Keep the reception area and desk efficient and tidy.
* Pass on relevant information to team members to ensure continuity of care and staff efficiency.
* Maintain security and confidentiality of persons, equipment, and information.
IT Duties
Be the first point of contact for staff who need support with IT issues.
Clerical Duties
* Register patients and accurately enter data onto the relevant computer system.
* Ensure that the patient database is accurately maintained by entering changes in address, name, and other information on SystmOne and associated data systems according to protocols.
* Accurately enter and update clinical data on the computer records according to protocols.
* Accurately compile cervical smear forms, blood forms, and associated data.
* Accurately enter Temporary Resident details onto the computer.
* Deal with the incoming and outgoing delivery of post to Suffolk Health Authority and Violet Hill House.
* Undertake additional administrative duties as required.
* Maintain accuracy of all information given and data entered.
* Maintain accurate knowledge of, and keep updated all written reception protocols.

Person Specification
Experience
* The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, a patient-focused attitude, and a good understanding of IT systems.
* Previous experience of working in a GP Practice would be desirable but not essential.

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and will require a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
