Following a period of growth and expansion, our IT consultancy is looking for an experienced, driven and motivated Business Development Manager with a deep understanding of working with MoD and government.
This key role requires an experienced and strategic new business-winning BDM to act as our defence sector lead. You will enjoy a strong degree of autonomy in how you deliver this. Whilst our head office is based in Gloucester, this role allows a highly flexible working routine, being client and partner focused.
The successful candidate will show demonstrable experience in business development and sales within the defence sector, with contacts in the MoD and with key contractors in the military and security sectors.
About the role:
You’ll be key to defining and winning key business opportunities which lead to order generation and revenue, whilst developing the brand and reputation of the smartDCS Group. You’ll know the inner workings of Forces HQs and all areas of the defence sector and know who to explore areas of capability development, enabling sustainment of a market-leading position.
You will be expected to manage your own demands and priorities. You will have specialised knowledge and a breadth of Business Development (new business) and Account Management (existing customer) experience within MoD and government sectors.
What we want from you:
* Develop, manage, and maintain capture plans in support of opportunities and campaigns with regular reporting and dissemination of associated information.
* Support the creation of marketing materials in support of events, campaigns, and capabilities.
* Developing and managing partner relationships.
* Experience working with defence sector clients and institutions.
* Proven success in the development and presentation of sales proposals, strategic services solutions, and success in selling complex technical solutions to both enterprises and government agencies.
* Experience in building long-term customer relationships and in leveraging public-private partnership programs.
* Be capable of confidently briefing to senior stakeholders across industry, government, and the defence sector.
* Have significant experience in developing, managing, and leading key sales or strategic campaigns within the defence sector.
* Innovative thinker and able to anticipate and overcome problems in a complex business development environment.
* Self-starter and highly motivated, able to set short and long-term planning goals in line with campaign and business needs.
* Identify, create, and validate opportunities for future sales and growth.
* Undertake accurate and well-informed market and competitor analysis.
* Have a good understanding of developing relationships and capture in defence.
* Worked on high value and long-term service agreements.

Due to the highly secure nature of the projects you will be involved with, you must be eligible to work in the UK and be eligible to undergo and maintain UK government clearance. Either existing SC or DV is required to start.
