GSL Education are seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to support students across schools in Cosham. In this SEN TA role, you will provide vital support to students with special educational needs, ensuring they are able to fully engage with the curriculum and achieve their personal academic goals. Whether you’re looking for day-to-day or long-term work, we offer flexible roles to suit your availability. To be a SEN Teaching Assistant, what you have to do: Provide 1:1 and group support to students with special educational needs, including Autism, ADHD, and learning difficulties. Assist in implementing individual education plans (IEPs) tailored to each student's needs. Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to ensure that students are receiving the appropriate support to succeed in lessons. Encourage students to participate actively in class activities and help with classroom management. Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that promotes confidence and independence. Support students’ social, emotional, and behavioural development, promoting positive behaviours and coping strategies. Monitor and record students’ progress, offering constructive feedback to the teaching team. Prepare resources and assist with the delivery of lessons where appropriate. Build strong, supportive relationships with students, fostering a sense of security and trust. Assist in the general organisation and running of the classroom. Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) Requirements: Previous experience as a teaching assistant or in a similar role, with a focus on SEN. CACHE Level 2/3 or NVQ Level 2/3 in Childcare or Teaching Assistance (desirable but not essential). A degree in Psychology, SEN, Counselling, Education or a similar field. A patient, caring, and empathetic approach when supporting students. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with teachers, students, and parents. A strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. An enhanced DBS certificate on the update service, or the willingness to apply for a new check.
