A unique and exciting opportunity has arisen to work for Rethink Mental Illness as a Health and Wellbeing Coach (HWBC) within the secure forensic inpatient wards at Ridgeway, Roseberry Park Hospital. The role will form part of a new Integrated Care Mental Health team, delivering low level therapeutic interventions. The postholder will support people with mental illnesses in the self-management of their recovery, building a professional relationship of trust in a non-judgmental manner with every client, as a basis for developing and enabling therapeutic relationships. This role involves providing support based on mental health coaching, motivational interviewing, change management, psychoeducation (including around wider health and substance issues), grounding and emotional regulation. This ranges from providing informal information, 1 to 1 support, enablement of engagement with other professionals, facilitating group activities and forums and ad hoc support for those experiencing emotional distress. They will work alongside the other staff in the mental health team to deliver high quality, mental health support during an individuals time in Ridgeway at Roseberry Park Hospital and in onward planning for their release into the community.

About us
The team compromises a range of highly skilled professionals who work collaboratively to provide the highest quality of care for those with mental health needs within the prison and for Rethink Mental Illness employees, this is carried out between 0830 1630 Monday to Friday.
You will work as part of an integrated care mental health team delivering Step 1 interventions, working alongside other professionals to support the mental health of the prison population.
The team support people with a common mental health problem in the self-management of their recovery, building a professional relationship of trust in a non-judgmental manner with every client as a basis for developing and enabling therapeutic relationships.
This ranges from providing informal information, support, and signposting, facilitating group activities and forums, to developing and training Peer Mentors and delivering service user engagement activities.

Job responsibilities
1. I work as partof the mental health team to support the wellbeing of the residents of HMP Haverigg during their time in prison
2. I work withother stakeholders as needed to ensure a holistic support package is in place
3. Provide comprehensive induction pack andsuite of self-help materials to support with mental health awareness andwellbeing within the prison
4. I joint workto provide appropriate packages of care, joint activities with substancemisuse services.
5. Towork in a coaching manner, exploring ways of goal setting with people to helpthem achieve their ambitions.
6. I organise andfacilitate group-based workshops and activities, ensuring self-help andpeer support groups cover a flexible timetable.
7. Iensure a collaborative approach with the multi-disciplinary team, constructing and maintain professionaland effective working relationships to gain the best personcentred / recovery outcomes for the individual.
8. Idevelop and facilitate service user forums.
9. Iestablish and maintain links with other services, to ensure awareness andknowledge, promote partnership working.
10. Attendanceat prisoner meetings to inform residents of services and support on offer formild and moderate mental health needs and conditions.
11. Workclosely with Prison Consultative Committees and Service User Forums toidentify, recruit and train suitable patients to become Peer Mentors providingadditional emotional/practical support.
12. Isupport individuals in HMP Haverigg to build skills and to feel confident toengage in activities to tackle stigma and discrimination.
13. Iwork with colleagues in Rethink Mental Illness to develop an engagementstrategy for those in prison so that our work is co-produced and delivered bypeople affected by mental illness.
14. I ensure the highest standards of clinical recordkeeping, including electronic data entering and recording on Rethink and Prisonsystems.
15. I contribute to the development of thehighest standard of professional practice within the service.
16. I contribute to the identification, management,and reduction of risk in the area of responsibility.
17. I report any incidents of harm or nearmiss in line with Rethink and HMP incident reporting policy ensuringappropriate actions are taken to reduce the risk of reoccurrence.

18. Completed training or qualification relevant to the post, Train the trainer, recovery training, Peer Support Worker or Coaching

20. Experience of working with people with mental health needs (both 1-1 and in groups) in a coaching and goal setting way.
