Our theatre education team is excited to announce a 12month fixed term post to cover Maternity leave.
There has never been a more exciting time to be part of theatre education at BRCH. Recognition of the highly skilled and complex work carried out in our department has identified the need for a dedicated education team who can provide consistent training and support to our committed, highly skilled theatre team. The role will be at the heart of these changes, helping us develop our team and services to meet the demands of our patients.
The post holder will have solid experience of working within a trauma centre/emergency theatre suite as well as demonstrable skills across a wide range of specialities particularly Trauma, Orthopaedics and General surgery. They will have experience of supporting learners in practice as well as excellent time management skills. The ability to work autonomously and as part of a team is essential, as is initiative and a drive to maintain and improve patient care across the whole department.
The role provides excellent development opportunities for the right candidate. The wide remit of the team will find you working within recruitment, operational management and workforce planning. Educationally you will be supporting a wide variety of learners including students, newly qualified and internationally educated staff. The role will also see you developing teaching and support for our existing staff.
The role of Clinical Practice Educator is to develop and promote quality evidence based practice thereby ensuring the highest possible standard of patient care. The role is autonomous and self-directed but also requires close collaboration with other members of the departmental education team as well as the wider theatre team.
You will be responsible for supporting all new starters within the department but with a dedicated focus on those coming into Anaesthetics. You will work to develop their skills, knowledge, competence and confidence in the perioperative care of infants and children within this specialist area. The role also supports those involved in mentorship and clinical supervision providing advice and guidance and when necessary. You will work alongside departmental link nurses to provide quality placements to all students undertaking clinical placements within the department.
Collaborating with speciality leads and service managers you will engage, develop and support existing members of the team providing innovative educational content that assures the care we provide is of the highest quality. There is also the opportunity to work with hospital training teams as well as national groups involved in the delivery of paediatric surgical care.
