If you are an experienced Healthcare Assistant with a passion for making the patient journey as comfortable as possible, we have just the role for you.
Working as a Health Care Assistant at Practice Plus Group, Ilford, you’ll provide support to the nursing staff and other members of the multidisciplinary team to ensure the delivery of a high standard of care to patients in a safe and caring environment.

Working 37.5 hours a week over 3 days, with shifts of Early: 07.45-17.45, Mid: 09.00-19.00 or Late: 11.00-21.00. Some Saturday working is required, usually 1 in 5.
What you'll be doing
* The role involves direct contact with patients and their families; therefore, you need to be empathetic, friendly, and have good interpersonal skills. Responsibilities include:
* Supporting the Registered Nurse in the provision of basic nursing care to patients by assisting patients to maximize their independence following training and assessment of competencies, with:
o Personal Hygiene, including catheter care according to procedures
o Diet & Fluids
o Dressing
o Toileting, including emptying and changing urine drainage bags according to Trust procedures
o Mobilizing, regaining independence
o Rest & Sleep
o Vital sign recording
* Contributing to accurate written and computerized documentation relevant to patient care, ensuring confidentiality of patient information at all times (e.g. fluid charts, food charts, and care plans, recording height and weight).
* Assisting the multi-professional team to prepare and support patients undergoing treatment and/or investigation, maintaining privacy and dignity at all times. Chaperoning patients during intimate procedures as required.
* Escorting non-acute patients with no treatment in progress and/or their relatives/carers to other wards and departments within the unit.
* Being aware of the importance of good health and the health education needs of patients identified within individual care plans.
* Displaying excellent two-way communication with patients, families, and colleagues, overcoming barriers to understanding when the patient’s first language is not English or has a neurological impairment, learning or hearing difficulties.
* Effectively communicating with all medical, nursing, and staff of other disciplines concerning the care of the patient.
What we’ll look for in you
We are looking for someone who is willing to work hard, learn, and develop in the role, but most importantly, someone who understands the value of teamwork and a good work ethic.
The ideal applicant will have:
* An NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care and be willing to undertake training to gain further clinical skills.
* Experience or a good understanding of HCA duties and responsibilities.
* The ability to receive and communicate information accurately and take instruction from professional colleagues.
* The flexibility to fit into the internal rotating shift pattern.
