Our client has a rewarding Senior Occupational Therapist Band 6 Permanent vacancy in West London to provide a high-quality Occupational Therapy service to a range of acute inpatient services including oncology, orthopaedics, neurosciences, general surgery, and intensive care. The role involves managing a caseload efficiently, using methods of prioritisation to achieve timely and safe discharge of patients from hospital, preventing admissions/readmissions, and enabling patients to achieve their rehabilitation goals. The successful candidate will assist the Lead Occupational Therapist in daily planning, coordinating, delivering, and evaluating the Occupational Therapy service, and will deputise for the Team Lead on clinical and managerial issues as requested.

Job Role:
1. Be professionally and legally accountable for all aspects of own work, including the management of patients in your care as an autonomous practitioner.
2. Undertake comprehensive assessments of patients, including those with diverse complex presentations.
3. Use advanced clinical reasoning skills in the formulation of treatment plans and deliver treatment programmes based on a sound knowledge of treatment skills.
4. Formulate accurate prognoses, recommend the best course of intervention, and develop comprehensive discharge plans.
5. Communicate effectively both verbally and non-verbally with patients and their carers to maximise rehabilitation potential, including working with patients who have complex communication problems.
6. Work effectively with patients whose first language is not English and consider diversity issues, particularly differing cultural awareness.
7. Undertake individual initial assessments, identify care needs, and set patient-centred treatment plans.
8. Assess and treat the patient's functional activity level to maximise their independence and choice.
9. Communicate and liaise with other members of the health care team regarding patients' treatment planning and promote interaction between the multidisciplinary team.
10. Delegate appropriately to junior staff, students, and support workers.
11. Correctly charge patients for all treatments and equipment issued and capture activity units.
12. Plan the effective daily management of a caseload of patients, including responding to urgent referrals and occasionally unpredictable work patterns.
13. Work flexibly with early and late shifts.
14. Prioritise clinical work and balance other professional activities in accordance with departmental requirements.
15. Be responsible for the safe and competent use of all equipment, aids, and appliances used by patients.
16. Respond to concerns, complaints, and clinical incidents, record accordingly, and share learning and improvements as required.
17. Demonstrate efficient resource management and allocation, promoting both financial and environmental sustainability.
Requirements:
1. BSc (Hons) Occupational Therapist
2. HCPC Registered
3. Proven experience of working as a Band 5 Occupational Therapist within a broad range of medical and surgical clinical areas.
4. Experience of quality issues and audit.
5. Previous participation in on-call working.
6. Excellent written and spoken English.
7. In-depth knowledge of a variety of rehabilitation needs.
8. Organisational and time management skills.
9. Proven ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
10. Good use of IT skills.
11. Demonstrate a forward-looking and proactive approach.
12. Use initiative and demonstrate enthusiasm for clinical excellence and clinical development.
13. Ability to work with change.
