We are looking for a Consultant to be actively involved in the provision of and design of our new multi-agency service. Acute Stroke services were centralized on the Worcestershire Royal Hospital site from June2013 offering an 8 bed Hyper Acute Stroke Unit (HASU), 12 beds ASU and also ambulatory High-Risk TIA care being provided at Worcester. All Stoke beds are ring-fenced to allow direct admission from A&E. Having relocated and reorganized the service, the Division of Medicine is undertaking a program of service development with expansion of Consultant and junior doctor and specialist nurse posts to support a growing service which aims to provide the highest standards of nursing and specialist medical care. Main duties of the job We are seeking to recruit a well-trained and motivated applicant who is able to contribute energy, quality and ideas to this important clinical service as well as aiming to improve our current SSNAP score, which has been improving steadily in recent years and the post holder is anticipated to contribute in continual improvement. The post-holder may participate in the Network /local rota. Neuro interventional treatments, (Thrombectomy) are offered through University Hospitals Birmingham. The post holder will be supported by a team consisting of 2 specialist registrars, 3 SHO level doctors (medical or GP vocational trainees) and 2 FY1 doctors. The Stroke Team includes 6 specialist Stroke Nurses, Stroke nurse consultant, Neurology & Stroke trained Physiotherapists, Occupational therapists, Speech & Language therapists, Dietetics, Orthoptists and Social Services. There is also an Audit co-coordinator, Stroke Manager, Lead Practitioner for Stroke and Community based in and out-patient Rehabilitation team.
